The incident occurred outside a harris Teeter grocery store, resulting in the theft of the deputy chief of staff&#8217;s car, laptop, phone, iPad, staff ID, and bag. Authorities arrested two male suspects, aged 14 and 15, the latter of whom faces charges for carjacking, while the 14-year-old was charged wiht weapons offenses. The Navy Yard has seen a rise in crime, with motor vehicle incidents up by 10% from the previous year, and carjackings, which predominantly involve firearms. In recent years, D.C. has witnessed several similar incidents involving political figures,including carjackings and assaults. The suspects were 14- and 15-year-old males. The 15-year-old was charged with carjacking, and the 14-year-old was charged with carrying a pistol without a license and unauthorized use of a vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>Jacobs&rsquo;s office did not comment on the incident.<\/p>\n<p>Navy Yard, a popular neighborhood in D.C., has had many incidents in the last few months that residents have documented on an X account called <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/navyyardcrime?lang=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">NavyYardCrime<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Motor vehicle incidents are up 10% from last year, making them one of the only incidents that have worsened <a href=\"https:\/\/mpdc.dc.gov\/dailycrime\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">since 2024<\/a>. Fifty-four percent of arrests to date this year involved juveniles, with 83% of the arrests having a D.C. home address.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>There have been a handful of <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >incidents involving people<\/a> who work in politics in D.C. In 2023, Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX) was carjacked at gunpoint near his home in Navy Yard. The congressman was not harmed, and his car was eventually returned. Also in 2023, Rep. Angie Craig (D-MN) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/1969962\/police-arrest-suspect-after-rep-angie-craig-assaulted-in-apartment-elevator\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">was assaulted<\/a> in her apartment building. Last year, former Trump administration official Michael Gill was shot in a carjacking spree. He later <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/d-c-police-identify-calif-woman-killed-during-demonstration\/\" title=\"D.C.
