Mangione faces eleven charges in connection with Thompson&#8217;s death, which occurred on December 4, 2024, outside a Manhattan hotel.He has pleaded not guilty to both state and federal charges. His lawyers argue that prosecuting him in both state and federal courts constitutes double jeopardy and have also requested the dismissal of terrorism charges and the exclusion of evidence collected during his arrest in Pennsylvania. The Manhattan district attorney&#8217;s office plans to respond to this motion. A trial date for the state case has not been set, but Mangione is scheduled to return to court on June 26.
