The suit specifically focused on Special Agents Gary Shapley and Joseph Ziegler, alleging they exposed Biden&rsquo;s tax information when blowing the whistle on preferential treatment by the DOJ, as The Federalist&rsquo;s Margot Cleveland previously <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/05\/20\/whistleblowers-file-bold-motion-to-intervene-in-hunter-bidens-lawsuit-against-irs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a>. On April 30 Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/empowr.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Biden-voluntarily-dismisses-v.-IRS-04-30-25.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">moved<\/a> to drop the case &ldquo;with prejudice,&rdquo; meaning it is permanently closed.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;It&rsquo;s always been clear that the lawsuit was an attempt to intimidate us. Shapley and Ziegler sought to <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/05\/20\/whistleblowers-file-bold-motion-to-intervene-in-hunter-bidens-lawsuit-against-irs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">intervene<\/a> in the case last year for &ldquo;their careers, their reputations, and fending off adverse collateral consequences,&rdquo; as Cleveland reported at the time.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We truly wanted our day in court to provide the complete story, but it appears Mr. Biden was afraid to actually fight this case in a court of law after all,&rdquo; the agents wrote in the April 30 release. &ldquo;His voluntary dismissal of the case tells you everything you need to know about who was right and who was wrong.&rdquo;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Biden has been dropping other suits across the country, claiming <a href=\"https:\/\/jonathanturley.org\/2025\/03\/06\/a-significant-downturn-and-significant-debt-hunter-biden-claims-financial-distress-in-seeking-to-drop-lawsuit-against-ex-white-house-official\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">financial ruin<\/a>, according to George Washington University Professor Jonathan Turley.<\/p>\n<figure>\n<p><span><\/p>\n<blockquote data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Hunter Biden just dropped his lawsuit against the two IRS whistleblowers. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/jbCKJPo8OK\">https:\/\/t.co\/jbCKJPo8OK<\/a> This follows similar motions in other cases as his scorched-earth campaign flames out across the country. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/aS7SGCLaZn\">https:\/\/t.co\/aS7SGCLaZn<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Jonathan Turley (@JonathanTurley) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JonathanTurley\/status\/1917921462968816066?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 1, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><\/span> <\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Instead of paying his ex-wife or fourth child &mdash; or even his &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/top-takeaways-from-kamala-harriss-interview-with-msnbc-washington-examiner\/\" title=\"Top takeaways from Kamala Harris\u2019s interview with MSNBC - Washington Examiner\">fair share&#038;rdquo<\/a>; of taxes &mdash; Biden spent <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/12\/08\/what-hunter-biden-spent-money-on-instead-of-his-fair-share-of-taxes-alimony-and-child-support\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">hundreds of thousands<\/a> of dollars from 2016 to 2019 on &ldquo;drugs, escorts and girlfriends, luxury hotels and rental properties, exotic cars, clothing,&rdquo; and even a sex club, as The Federalist previously reported. According to his memoir, he lived out of low-budget motels during this time, pursuing a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox61.com\/article\/news\/nation-world\/hunter-biden-memoir-details-lifelong-addiction-struggle\/507-2353496e-e043-4656-9a7f-d41547f14252\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">cocaine addiction<\/a>. More recently, he has been <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/03\/07\/if-the-biden-family-business-was-built-on-anything-but-access-it-would-be-thriving\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">struggling<\/a> to sell his art and the memoir.<\/p>\n<p>Biden&rsquo;s access to this wealth, which he soon squandered, followed numerous <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/03\/07\/if-the-biden-family-business-was-built-on-anything-but-access-it-would-be-thriving\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">influence-peddling<\/a> schemes with Chinese businessmen and Ukrainian oligarchs. These took place both during and after the vice presidency of Joe Biden, who became known in these deals as &ldquo;the big guy.&rdquo;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>There was so much evidence that even the <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/tag\/doj\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">corrupt<\/a> Biden DOJ had to investigate the president&rsquo;s son, ultimately giving him a <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/09\/19\/hunter-biden-pled-guilty-so-his-corrupt-dad-can-pardon-him-after-the-election\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">slap on the wrist<\/a>. As The Federalist&rsquo;s John Daniel Davidson <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/12\/03\/hunter-bidens-pardon-is-all-about-protecting-joe-biden-not-his-son\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">wrote<\/a>, DOJ Special Counsel David Weiss &ldquo;never indicted the younger Biden for failing to register as a foreign agent&rdquo; or for more serious crimes &mdash; notwithstanding his illegal and debased spending habits. And before Weiss would even bring that limited indictment, IRS whistleblowers Ziegler and Shapley had to expose federal prosecutors for giving Hunter special treatment.<\/p>\n<p>During his last days in office, the senior Biden &mdash; or whoever was behind his <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/ItsYourGov\/status\/1899520975156216146\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">autopen<\/a> &mdash; signed blanket pardons for <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/12\/02\/after-hunters-pardon-its-time-to-prosecute-the-rest-of-the-biden-crime-family\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Hunter<\/a> and other family <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/01\/20\/biden-shatters-democrats-sacred-norms-to-turn-pardons-into-get-out-of-jail-free-cards\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">members<\/a> involved in these pay-to-play schemes.
