Casar argued that canceling contracts wiht Musk&#8217;s companies, such as SpaceX, could save the U.S. government $3 billion annually. He is raising concerns about potential conflicts of interest, as Musk is involved with the Trump administration while concurrently seeking government contracts. Despite opposition from House Oversight Republicans, Casar emphasized that any misuse of power by Musk could lead to more severe repercussions, suggesting that <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\">future congressional inquiries<\/a> might uncover cases of Musk enriching himself through his government position. Rep. Maxwell Frost (D-FL) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/OversightDems\/status\/1917620239753236681\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">introduced another amendment<\/a>, which was to require President Donald Trump to follow the Supreme Court&rsquo;s rulings or else have congressional Republicans&rsquo; proposed budget cuts nullified.<\/p>\n<p>The purpose of the <a href=\"https:\/\/oversight.house.gov\/release\/comer-oversight-committee-has-generational-opportunity-to-pass-budget-reforms-saving-taxpayers-over-50-billion-dollars\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Wednesday Oversight hearing<\/a> was to be a markup on budget legislation in support of Trump&rsquo;s &ldquo;America First&rdquo; agenda.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Casar: There&rsquo;s a Republican majority today but there could be a Democratic majority in under two years. And when we are sitting on this committee, and if we get a chance to have the subpoena power and look into this and find out that Elon Musk has used his power to enrich himself, the consequences could actually be much greater than just having his contracts cut off.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Musk&rsquo;s designation as a special government employee is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/white-house\/3396495\/trump-cabinet-cheers-elon-musk-doge-departure\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">set to expire<\/a> by the end of May. He shared in a conference call with Tesla&nbsp;shareholders that he will <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/white-house\/3388328\/elon-musk-doge-involvement-drop-may-tesla-earnings\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">scale back his work with DOGE<\/a> to one to two days until his contract ends.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Democrats have been highly critical of Musk&rsquo;s work with the Trump administration, having aired concerns that a conflict of interest exists with Musk seeking to slash government funding while his companies hold government contracts. In addition, Musk has sought to acquire new government contracts.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.2);\"><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/defense\/3383925\/elon-musk-spacex-build-trump-golden-dome-missile-defense\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">MUSK&rsquo;S SPACEX BEING CONSIDERED TO BUILD TRUMP&rsquo;S &lsquo;GOLDEN DOME&rsquo;<\/a><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The news is out that he&rsquo;s seeking this multi billion dollar contract for Trump&rsquo;s golden dome,&rdquo; Casar said on Wednesday. &ldquo;The word is out that he&rsquo;s out there messing with the [Federal Aviation Administration], trying to get his Starlink contracts at the FAA.
