He asserted that the federal government would not permit taxpayer funds to be misallocated based on race. The Education Department&rsquo;s press release states that the &ldquo;Black Student Success Plan&rdquo; deals with &ldquo;remedial measures only for black students, despite acknowledging that Chicago students of all races struggle academically.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2 d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-1158325490\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1463670073398-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&ldquo;Chicago Public Schools have a record of academic failure, leaving students from all backgrounds and races struggling and ill-prepared to meet the challenges and enjoy the rewards of contemporary American life,&rdquo; Craig Trainor,&nbsp;acting assistant secretary for civil rights, said. &ldquo;Rather than address its record honestly, CPS seeks to allocate additional resources to favored students on the basis of race. The Trump-McMahon Department of Education will not allow federal funds, provided for the benefit of all students, to be used in this pernicious and unlawful manner.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;To CPS, I say this: Every American student deserves access to a quality education, and the Trump Administration will fight tirelessly to uphold that ideal and ensure all students are treated equally under law,&rdquo; he added.<\/p>\n<p>Also in February, the department sent a notice to state education officials that they will no longer be allowed to have programs that exclude people based on race or make race-based hiring decisions, as had become the norm for diversity, equity, and inclusion-crazed school districts. Some <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2025\/04\/19\/blue-states-keeping-dei-life-support-trump-admin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">states<\/a>, schools, and left-wing interest groups have <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/02\/18\/education-association-tells-administrators-across-the-country-to-ignore-trump-guidance-on-ending-dei\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">attempted<\/a> to fight the directive.<\/p>\n<p>Chicago is no different, and its Democrat mayor, Brandon Johnson, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chalkbeat.org\/chicago\/2025\/04\/04\/mayor-brandon-johnson-threatens-to-sue-if-trump-cuts-education-funding-over-dei\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">threatened<\/a> to sue the Trump administration if it cut its $1.3 billion (about 16 percent of CPS&rsquo;s annual budget) in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-revokes-trump-anarchist-jurisdictions-order-restores-financing-to-portland-seattle\/\" title=\"Biden Revokes Trump \u2018Anarchist Jurisdictions\u2019 Order, Restores Financing To Portland, Seattle\">federal funding due<\/a> to the city&rsquo;s DEI obsession.<\/p>\n<p>The state got involved as well, with the Illinois State Board of Education sending a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.isbe.net\/Documents\/ISBE-Response-Title-VI-Certification.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">letter<\/a> to the Education Department claiming it was in compliance with Title VI and that it really has no idea what the Trump administration means by DEI &mdash; the <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/04\/25\/three-rogue-judges-block-trump-admin-efforts-to-eradicate-discriminatory-dei-from-schools\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">common refrain from left-wing protectors of the ideology<\/a>, despite the fact that what is meant by &ldquo;DEI&rdquo; is well documented.<\/p>\n<p>The state board also has an entire <a href=\"https:\/\/www.isbe.net\/equity#:~:text=%7B%7BCurrentPage.,learner%20can%20meet%20those%20expectations.%E2%80%9D\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">page dedicated to its commitment to the ideology<\/a>, and CPS has an &ldquo;Office of Equity&rdquo; complete with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cps.edu\/sites\/equity\/tools\/us\/cps-diversity-equity--inclusion-resource-guide\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">DEI resource guide<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;No student should be denied an educational opportunity because of the color of their skin, yet perversely, that&rsquo;s exactly what Chicago Public Schools has chosen to do &mdash; despite the fact that the district&rsquo;s own data clearly demonstrates that students of all races are struggling academically,&rdquo; Nicole Neily, president and founder of Defending Education, said in the department press release. &ldquo;Amid abysmal proficiency rates, discipline crises, and a nearly $10 billion budget deficit, district leaders made a conscious decision to allocate finite resources to some students and not others &mdash; and we are grateful that the Department of Education has opened an investigation into this injustice.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Chicago has deeper racial issues than just its &ldquo;Black Student Success Plan.&rdquo; Its <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20240814214513\/https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/2964595\/chicago-schools-decolonize-anti-western-activists\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">entire curriculum was revamped<\/a> in order to inject DEI and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/first-in-nation-idahos-republican-gov-signs-bill-banning-critical-race-theory\/\" title=\"First In Nation: Idaho\u2019s Republican Gov. Signs Bill Banning Critical ... Theory\">critical race theory indoctrination<\/a> into the minds of young Americans.<\/p>\n<p>Parts of the curriculum are squarely focused on destroying Western society and undercutting its academic traditions in favor of things like oral tradition because they claim academia has been &ldquo;colonized.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\">\n<div class=\"article-author-description fst-italic\">      Breccan F.
