Teh complaint, <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\">made public recently<\/a>, cites claims from a criminal referral by U.S. Federal Housing Director William J. Pulte.It accuses James of falsifying records to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/letitia-james-faces-criminal-referral-for-alleged-mortgage-fraud\/\" title=\"Letitia ... faces ... for alleged ...\">secure home loans<\/a> for a property she claimed was her principal residence, despite her commitment to serving in New York.<\/p>\n<p>AFL claims that the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/judge-tosses-most-cases-against-trump-for-clearing-of-lafayette-park\/\" title=\"Judge Tosses Most Cases Against Trump For Clearing Of Lafayette Park\">alleged actions violate<\/a> several laws, including fraud statutes. Pulte earlier this month. The referral was addressed to Attorney General Pam Bondi and Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2 d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-2094944750\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1463670073398-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>As The Federalist&rsquo;s Brianna Lyman <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/04\/16\/letitia-no-one-is-above-the-law-james-accused-of-doing-exactly-what-she-prosecuted-trump-for\/\">repo<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/04\/16\/letitia-no-one-is-above-the-law-james-accused-of-doing-exactly-what-she-prosecuted-trump-for\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">r<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/04\/16\/letitia-no-one-is-above-the-law-james-accused-of-doing-exactly-what-she-prosecuted-trump-for\/\">ted<\/a>, Pulte&rsquo;s filing contended that &ldquo;James allegedly &lsquo;falsified records&rsquo; to obtain home loans for a property in Virginia that she claimed in 2023 was her &lsquo;principal residence&rsquo; despite serving in New York at the time, according to The [New York] Post.&rdquo; &ldquo;The alleged falsification,&rdquo; Lyman wrote, &ldquo;occurred weeks before she launched her <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/09\/27\/ny-judges-scrutinize-troubling-450-million-penalty-in-trump-fraud-case-no-one-lost-any-money\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/letitia-james-accused-of-exactly-what-she-prosecuted-trump-for\/\" title=\"Letitia ... Accused Of Exactly What She Prosecuted Trump For\">politically motivated sham trial<\/a><\/a> against the Trump Organization for allegedly inflating the values of its properties.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Ms. James, for both properties listed above, appears to have falsified records in order to meet certain lending requirements and receive favorable loan terms,&rdquo; Pulte&rsquo;s <a href=\"https:\/\/media.aflegal.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/18152226\/FHFA-Referral-for-Prosecution-1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">referral<\/a> reads. &ldquo;U.S. Federal Housing FHFA believes this and other alleged misconduct could be violations of the criminal code under 18 U.S.C. &sect; 1343 (wire fraud), 18 U.S.C. &sect; 1341 (mail fraud), 18 U.S.C. &sect; 1344 (bank fraud), 18 U.S.C. &sect; 1014 (false statements to a financial institution), and\/or other relevant state and federal laws.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p><strong>[READ:[READ:<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/04\/16\/letitia-no-one-is-above-the-law-james-accused-of-doing-exactly-what-she-prosecuted-trump-for\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Letitia &lsquo;No One Is Above The Law&rsquo; James Accused Of Doing Exactly What She Prosecuted Trump For<\/a>]<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In its bar complaint filed with the Committee on Professional Standards in New York, AFL cited the New York Rules of Professional Conduct, which it noted, &ldquo;define fraud as conduct that &lsquo;has a purpose to deceive.&#8217;&rdquo; The legal group argued that James&rsquo; alleged &ldquo;material misrepresentations meet that definition and call into question her candor, trustworthiness, and honesty.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>AFL claimed that the New York bar &ldquo;has an independent duty to conduct its own investigation into the allegations raised in Mr. Pulte&rsquo;s letter,&rdquo; and subsequently contended that the Committee has the &ldquo;authority to begin an investigation based on this complaint or to act on its own.&rdquo; <\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;This Committee should exercise its statutory authority and launch its own independent investigation into these allegations. The legal profession ought to continue to regulate itself.
