White house Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt described this move as a &#8220;antagonistic and political action,&#8221; arguing that it contradicts President Trump&#8217;s claims that the recently imposed tariffs would not lead to increased consumer prices. Women&rsquo;s clothing increased by 8%.<\/p>\n<p>Temu has begun adding &ldquo;import charges&rdquo; of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/04\/28\/temu-adds-import-charges-after-trump-tariffs.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">roughly 145%<\/a> in response to the tariffs, in a similar move to Amazon.<\/p>\n<p>Both companies face a 120% tariff after the United States ended<a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/fact-sheets\/2025\/04\/fact-sheet-president-donald-j-trump-closes-de-minimis-exemptions-to-combat-chinas-role-in-americas-synthetic-opioid-crisis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\"> the &ldquo;de minimis&rdquo; exemption<\/a>, a tariff loophole, for small packages from China and Hong Kong beginning on May 2.
