he asked, using the abbreviation for the model of Flight 5342&rsquo;s aircraft, Canadair Regional Jet, according to the Times.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Some former military pilots said that by issuing a proactive command to pass behind the jet, the controller was going above and beyond his obligations, especially under see-and-avoid conditions, and that an experienced Black Hawk crew should have known what to do without help,&rdquo; the outlet said.<\/p>\n<p>Nonetheless, some regulators and controllers told the Times the controller could have been even more proactive, such as providing the distance in feet between the two aircraft.<\/p>\n<p>However, instead of seeing and avoiding <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/heartbroken-fox-news-star-bill-melugin-confirms-suffered-painful-loss-dc-plane-disaster\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Flight 5342<\/a>, Lobach just kept flying straight ahead.<\/p>\n<p>Warrant Officer Eaves told the tower that the Black Hawk saw the traffic: &ldquo;PAT two-five has the aircraft in sight. Request visual separation,&rdquo; meaning they would avoid the airline jet.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Vis sep approved,&rdquo; the controller responded.<\/p>\n<p>At this point, the Blackhawk was 15 seconds away from crossing paths with Flight 5342.<\/p>\n<p>Eaves told Lobach to turn left, toward the east bank of the Potomac.<\/p>\n<p>She did not follow his instructions, and the two <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ap-all-flights-halted-at-ronald-reagan-national-airport-after-passenger-jet-disaster\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">aircraft collided<\/a>, killing 64 passengers and crew on Flight 5342, as well as Lobach, Eaves, and a crewmember on their helicopter.<\/p>\n<p>Many have suggested on <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Bubblebathgirl\/status\/1916544505894908396\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">social media<\/a> that DEI was to blame for the crash. That we do not know.
