Despite clear evidence linking him to teh crime, Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty decided not to pursue criminal charges, opting instead for a diversion program, which would allow Adams to avoid a felony record in exchange for restitution and compliance with specific requirements. This decision has drawn criticism from authorities and citizens alike, with Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara expressing frustration over the lenient handling of a case involving significant victim impact<\/a>.
