When 79% of the country tells you that they don&rsquo;t want transgenderism in women&rsquo;s sports, understand that your positions seem radical,&rdquo; he said. &ldquo;They can&rsquo;t get that through their head.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Uygur argued that some factions of the Left have become disconnected from mainstream voter concerns.<\/p>\n<p>He added that while he doesn&rsquo;t disagree with support for transgender athletes, those who hold similar views must acknowledge that their stance is in the minority and may appear radical to others.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;It&rsquo;s not just the fascists &mdash; it&rsquo;s 80% of the country,&rdquo; Uygur said.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Emanuel, the former mayor of Chicago and former President Barack Obama&rsquo;s White House chief of staff, faced <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/OMVMuJtDteo?si=FocRaVSoTq9Ki1zh&amp;t=2386\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"sharp criticism\">sharp criticism<\/a> from podcast host Jennifer Welch during a fiery exchange on the <em>I&rsquo;ve Had It <\/em>podcast on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Emanuel said Democrats have strayed from kitchen-table issues in favor of what he called &ldquo;superfluous arguments.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Emanuel said, &ldquo;I do think the Democrats should stand up and fight for their own principles, but also fight for the people we represent. Too often, on a whole host of cultural issues, we&rsquo;re off on tangential things that didn&rsquo;t matter to them &mdash; their kids&rsquo; education, the price of groceries, the security of their children&rsquo;s education, the security of their parents, people missing medications and doctor visits because they couldn&rsquo;t afford them. Those are things we broke faith with them on. I&rsquo;m not against fighting, but I want to make sure we&rsquo;re not just fighting for the sake of fighting. We ended up fighting for the wrong things.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>He reflected on his time as U.S. ambassador to Japan, saying, &ldquo;When you&rsquo;re away from America, you learn a lot about America.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We had the luxury of being a superpower. We&rsquo;re having superfluous arguments about things that didn&rsquo;t matter to people,&rdquo; Emanuel said. &ldquo;We became not a party that was built on the culture of acceptance, but a party that became an advocate for certain things that, in my view, were just nuts.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>    <iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/OMVMuJtDteo?si=641DQWv_p94Nyybw&amp;start=2386\" title=\"YouTube video player\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>    <\/p>\n<p>He specifically pointed to Democratic messaging around transgender bathroom policies, joking, &ldquo;The only room we do really well was the bathroom, and that&rsquo;s the smallest room in the house.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Welch pushed back forcefully, accusing Emanuel of capitulating to Republican narratives. &ldquo;That is such bulls***,&rdquo; she responded. &ldquo;You know who talks about trans people more than anybody? MAGA. MAGA is the most <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\">genital-obsessed political party<\/a> I have ever seen.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;You keep talking about living in this red state craziness &mdash; you know there&rsquo;s a U-Haul if you want to move out,&rdquo; he jokingly replied to Welch. <\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I&rsquo;ll just tell you this: My view is there&rsquo;s a whole set of issues, and these are side, tangential issues. They&rsquo;re not core, and they&rsquo;re not central to what we believe in,&rdquo; Emanuel added.<\/p>\n<p>Emanuel&rsquo;s remarks this week echoed similar sentiments he shared in March on HBO&rsquo;s <em>Real Time with Bill Maher,<\/em> where he urged the party to shift focus.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I don&rsquo;t want to hear another word about the locker room, I don&rsquo;t want to hear another word about the bathroom.
