At 36,Bowman,who is the pastor of River Church Cincinnati,is challenging incumbent Mayor Aftab Pureval,who won his first term with 66% of the vote in 2021. Pureval expressed satisfaction at not running unopposed this time around, as bowman and another Republican candidate, Brian Frank, join the race. Pureval received 66% of the vote in his 2021 campaign. Prior to February, Pureval was running unopposed.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I think it&rsquo;s fantastic that I&rsquo;m not running unopposed,&rdquo; Pureval said at a recent ribbon cutting.<\/p>\n<p>Bowman is up against the incumbent and one other Republican candidate, recruiter&nbsp;Brian Frank. The primary election will be nonpartisan, with the top two candidates moving on to the November election.<\/p>\n<p>Vance made little mention of Bowman in his memoir, <em>Hillbilly Elegy<\/em>. The two share a father who wanted to put Vance up for adoption when he was born. As a result, Vance&rsquo;s mother opted not to give her son the Bowman last name. The <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\">half brothers reconnected<\/a> when Vance was 13.<\/p>\n<p>Neither the White House nor Vance has offered an endorsement in the race.
