These companies are either directly tied to the Chinese military or engage in activities that support it,including the development of military technology. Despite Amazon having the authority to restrict sales of certain items based on content, it has not stopped the sale of goods from these <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/us-purge-of-red-assets-is-a-simple-principal-chinese-experts-say\/\" title=\"US &#039;Purge of Red Assets&#039; Is a &#039;Simple Principal,&#039; Chinese Experts Say\">military-linked companies<\/a>, raising questions about the platform&#8217;s business ethics and regulatory compliance. Other firms affiliated with the CCP, such as Huawei and Tencent, also have a meaningful presence on the platform. Hikvision, a Chinese video surveillance company <span style=\"box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\">that doesn&rsquo;t appear on the Pentagon list but has been&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/sanctionssearch.ofac.treas.gov\/Details.aspx?id=30946\" target=\"_blank\">sanctioned<\/a>&nbsp;by<\/span> the Department of Commerce over its involvement in China&rsquo;s repression of ethnic Uyghurs, also sells its products on Amazon.<\/p>\n<p>Hikvision isn&rsquo;t alone. Multiple corporations involved in China&rsquo;s Uyghur program, which Republican and Democratic administrations have described as a genocide, have products listed on Amazon.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/uhrp.org\/report\/dahuas-links-to-human-rights-abuses-in-east-turkistan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Dahua<\/a>, another company that manufactures video surveillance equipment and appears on the Pentagon&rsquo;s list, has a sizable presence on Amazon&rsquo;s online storefront. The company has contracted with the Chinese government to supply, develop, and operate surveillance systems used against Uyghurs. The firm has also received funding from the Chinese government, and its executives are affiliated with the CCP.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>DJI, a major drone manufacturer that sells goods through Amazon and was designated by the Pentagon as a Chinese military company, has also <a href=\"https:\/\/uhrp.org\/report\/surveillance-tech-series-djis-links-to-human-rights-abuses-in-east-turkistan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">supplied<\/a> CCP authorities with surveillance tools used to target ethnic Uyghurs and has received investments from Chinese state-owned entities, earning it sanctions from the Treasury and Commerce Departments. Cybersecurity researchers found in 2020 that the app used to control DJI&rsquo;s <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\">drones collects large quantities<\/a> of personal information from its users that the Chinese government could use its power to access, the <em>New York Times <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2020\/07\/23\/us\/politics\/dji-drones-security-vulnerability.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">reported<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">People watch a flying demonstration of a drone at the DJI booth at CES International in Las Vegas. Hong)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Autel Robotics, another drone manufacturer that appears on the DOD&rsquo;s list of Chinese military companies and sells goods on Amazon, has also received CCP subsidies, with the company&rsquo;s founder <a href=\"https:\/\/selectcommitteeontheccp.house.gov\/sites\/evo-subsites\/selectcommitteeontheccp.house.gov\/files\/evo-media-document\/11.29.23-letter-to-austin-yellen-and-raimondo-autel-drones-final-.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">describing<\/a> the support as &ldquo;indispensable oxygen&rdquo; for the firm. Online job listings indicate that the firm sells its equipment to the Chinese military. Meanwhile, the House Select Committee on the CCP has accused it of participating in China&rsquo;s Uyghur suppression operations.<\/p>\n<p>Amazon has discretion over who can sell and what can be sold on its platform, a right it has exercised in the past. For instance, in 2015, Amazon prohibited the sale of <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.nytimes.com\/www.nytimes.com\/politics\/first-draft\/2015\/06\/23\/retailers-ban-sale-of-merchandise-bearing-confederate-flag\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Confederate battle flags<\/a> on its marketplace. More recently, Amazon banned <a href=\"https:\/\/sellercentral.amazon.com\/seller-forums\/discussions\/t\/3aca598cc1cbd36fb354008fefcee0b3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">mouth tape<\/a>, an adhesive product intended to aid sleep, on its storefront for safety reasons. Amazon did not respond to the <em>Washington Examiner <\/em>when asked why it has not exercised this discretion to bar the sale of goods manufactured by Pentagon-designated Chinese military companies.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the CCP&rsquo;s biggest supporters have a massive presence on Amazon Marketplace.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">A Huawei logo is displayed at an electronics retail shop in Hong Kong. (AP Photo\/Kin Cheung)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Dozens of products manufactured by Huawei, a Chinese telecommunications giant with extensive links to the CCP and People&rsquo;s Liberation Army, are available on Amazon. The website is saturated with phones, watches, and other consumer electronics.<\/p>\n<p>Huawei was included on the DOD&rsquo;s initial Chinese military company list in 2020 following a <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2024\/04\/11\/chinese-military-companies-have-spent-over-24-million-lobbying-the-us-govt-in-recent-years\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">flood of reporting<\/a> on the firm&rsquo;s relationship with the CCP. For instance, a study published in 2019 found &ldquo;strong evidence&rdquo; that Huawei works with Chinese state intelligence authorities and that its employees perform research for the CCP, according to the <em>New York Times<\/em>. <span style=\"box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\">A 2021&nbsp;<em>Washington <\/em><\/span>Post&nbsp;investigation revealed that the telecommunication conglomerate&rsquo;s equipment was used by the Chinese government in service of its Uyghur repression program. Huawei has also been a key player in the CCP&rsquo;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/world\/3264659\/china-belt-and-road-initiative-outpaces-us-influence\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Belt and Road Initiative<\/a>, a global infrastructure project China uses to exert influence on developing nations.<\/p>\n<p>President Donald Trump&rsquo;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/technology\/trump-says-china-has-reached-out-tariffs-tiktok-deal-may-wait-2025-04-17\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">tariffs<\/a>, which include a 145% tax on goods coming from China, have left many vendors who deal in Chinese goods panicking about the possible loss of business as they&rsquo;re forced to increase prices. The tariffs are set to have the previously unreported impact of cutting into the profit margins of the Chinese military companies that use Amazon to sell their goods to Americans.<\/p>\n<p>Media produced by Tencent, one of the most recent additions to the Pentagon&rsquo;s Chinese military company list, is available via Amazon Prime Video. Unlike the consumer goods sold by other Chinese military companies, Tencent&rsquo;s media products are unlikely to be affected. However, the software company&rsquo;s links to the Chinese government run deep.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Tencent co-founder and CEO Ma Huateng is a <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/national-security\/the-pentagon-says-tech-giant-tencent-is-a-chinese-military-company-its-founder-serves-on-a-yale-board\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">member of the CCP<\/a> who served two terms as part of China&rsquo;s National People&rsquo;s Congress. WeChat, a text-based messaging service owned by Tencent, engages in censorship on behalf of the Chinese government, according to Human Rights Watch. Additionally, a 2017 <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.ph\/20230323012647\/https:\/\/tech.sina.cn\/2017-10-14\/detail-ifymvuys9864621.d.html?from=wap\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">report<\/a> from the Chinese language media outlet <em>Sina Tech <\/em>found that Tencent employed over 7,000 CCP members.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/investigations\/3382281\/congress-launches-investigation-biden-administration-ccp-linked-nonprofit-land-military-bases\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\"><strong>CONGRESS LAUNCHES INVESTIGATION INTO BIDEN ADMINISTRATION USING CCP-LINKED NONPROFIT TO MANAGE LAND NEAR MILITARY BASES<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Amazon, along with other <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/paxton-urges-gop-state-lawmakers-to-tighten-election-integrity-laws\/\" title=\"Paxton Urges GOP State Lawmakers to Tighten Election Integrity Laws\">large tech companies<\/a>, has been jockeying for influence within the Trump administration while maintaining business relationships with CCP-linked firms. The <em>Washington Examiner <\/em>previously <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/in_focus\/3309039\/big-tech-trump-ties-chinese-military\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">reported<\/a> that Apple and Google, similar to Amazon, allow Chinese military companies to host software in their app stores.<\/p>\n<p>The remaining Pentagon-designated Chinese military companies with a presence on Amazon include Baicells, CXMT, China Unicom, CATL, Sugon, and Quectel. Some of these firms, such as Tencent and DJI, have disputed their designations as Chinese military companies.
