The judge&#8217;s ruling follows a series of legal battles concerning efforts to downsize or dismantle the agency, which was established after the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/erickson-let-david-slay-goliath\/\" title=\"ERICKSON: Let David Slay Goliath\">2008 financial crisis<\/a> to protect consumers. A hearing for officials who worked on the reduction-in-force to explain their actions is scheduled for April 28, the <em>Associated Press<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/trump-consumer-financial-protection-bureau-65c7953b6d79043fc2ac58b660c3847d\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I&rsquo;m willing to resolve it quickly, but I&rsquo;m not going to let this RIF go forward until I have,&rdquo; Jackson said.<\/p>\n<p>Mark Paoletta, the CFPB&rsquo;s chief legal officer, argued that administration officials have spent weeks laying out &ldquo;a much more limited vision for enforcement and supervision activities&rdquo; with a &ldquo;smaller, more efficient operation.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>He argued the bureau had &ldquo;pushed well beyond the limits of the law,&rdquo; including by undertaking &ldquo;intrusive and wasteful fishing expeditions.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Those in the CFPB have also alleged behavior bordering on abuse by Department of Government Efficiency personnel. Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) founded the bureau after the 2008 financial crisis to help consumers. Critics argued that it drifted from its original purpose, becoming an opaque agency that abused its authority, pursuing targets such as a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/3326438\/trumps-cfpb-dismisses-case-against-community-focused-financial-lending-company\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trumps-cfpb-dismisses-case-against-community-focused-financial-lending-company-washington-examiner\/\" title=\"Trump\u2019s ... dismisses case against community-focused financial lending company - Washington Examiner\">community-focused financial lending company<\/a><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Acting CFPB director and Office of Management and Budget director Russell Vought took several measures to reduce the agency upon assuming the position, including halting investigations and layoffs.
