However, the secretary of state said other consequential matters required just as much time and attention.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The president feels very strongly about that,&rdquo; Rubio said. &ldquo;He has dedicated a lot of time and energy to this &hellip; this is important, but there are a lot of other really important things going on that deserve just as much, if not more attention.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The notion that the U.S. could walk away from brokering a deal came after Trump announced on Thursday that a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/white-house\/3383796\/trump-claims-mineral-deal-ukraine-signed-next-week\/\">minerals deal with Ukraine would be signed next week<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We have a minerals deal which I guess is going to be signed on Thursday&hellip; next Thursday,&rdquo; Trump said. &ldquo;Soon. And I assume they&rsquo;re going to live up to the deal. So we&rsquo;ll see. But we have a deal on that.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent later elaborated on the potential deal, stating that both sides are &ldquo;still working on the details.&rdquo; He added that they were &ldquo;shooting for around April 26&rdquo; to complete the agreement.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/white-house\/3315975\/doge-doing-across-federal-government\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>TRACKING WHAT DOGE IS DOING ACROSS THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>However, arranging a peace deal to end the war remains a challenging objective.
