Governor Gavin Newsom announced the lawsuit, arguing that the tariffs, which were enacted under the international Emergency Economic Powers Act, are unlawful and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/watch-house-dem-says-2-year-olds-should-have-been-required-to-wear-masks\/\" title=\"VIDEO: House Democrat Advocates for Mandatory Masks for 2-Year-Olds\">require congressional consent<\/a>. California, being a meaningful manufacturing state and a key trading partner globally, claims it is disproportionately affected by these tariffs. The lawsuit will request an immediate halt to the tariffs, which Trump has used as a strategy in trade disputes, particularly with Canada, China, and mexico. The state will ask the court to block the tariffs immediately.<\/p>\n<p>Newsom has said that Trump&rsquo;s tariffs have resulted in inflated costs and billions of dollars in damage in California, which has the largest economy within the United States and the fifth-largest economy in the world. California is the largest importer and second-largest exporter among states. Canada, China, and Mexico are the state&rsquo;s top three trading partners.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Trump imposed a 10% tariff on nearly all imports from most countries. His <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/white-house\/3375307\/trump-pauses-tariffs-90-days-china-exports-125\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">trade war with China<\/a> has escalated as the U.S. has imposed 145% tariffs on the country.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Trump has claimed that an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/presidential-actions\/2025\/02\/imposing-duties-to-address-the-synthetic-opioid-supply-chain-in-the-peoples-republic-of-china\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">increase <\/a>in illegal drugs from China formed a &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trumps-tariffs-against-mexico-and-canada-officially-go-into-effect-after-countries-failed-to-adequately-address-the-situation\/\" title=\"...&#039;s ...
