This exclusion reportedly stems from the AP&#8217;s refusal to comply with Trump&#8217;s directive to refer to the Gulf of Mexico as the &#8220;Gulf of America&#8221; in its stylebook. The court&#8217;s order stated that the government cannot restrict journalists based on their viewpoints if it is indeed allowing others to attend events. Following the ban, which occurred during a meeting between President Trump and Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele, an AP spokesperson expressed the expectation that their access would be reinstated as per the injunction. We expect the White House to restore <em>AP&rsquo;s<\/em> participation in the pool as of today, as provided in the injunction order,&rdquo; a spokesperson for the <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\">news agency told<\/a> the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em>. The<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/white-house\/3379287\/salvadoran-president-nayib-bukele-declines-return-mistakenly-deported-maryland-man\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\"> Oval Office event<\/a> on Monday was Trump&rsquo;s meeting with Salvadoran&nbsp;President&nbsp;Nayib Bukele.<\/p>\n<p>It is unclear whether the exclusion was due to the Gulf of America disagreement or changes made to the press pool to allow more independent media to cover intimate White House affairs, including Oval Office events.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The White House did not respond to the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em>&rsquo;s request for comment.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>As part of those changes, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/white-house\/3329833\/trump-takeover-whca-press-rotation-white-house-events\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\"> announced in February<\/a> that the <em>AP<\/em> and two other legacy news wires, <em>Bloomberg<\/em> and <em>Reuters<\/em>, which had each previously enjoyed a dedicated spot in the pool, would begin rotating a single seat to open up spots for other media. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">President Donald Trump, center right, speaks during a meeting with El Salvador&rsquo;s President, Nayib Bukele, center left, as Secretary of State Marco Rubio, from right, and Vice President JD Vance listen in the Oval Office of the White House in Washington, Monday, April 14, 2025.
