Dan Caine to lead Joint Chiefs in overnight vote<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"article-paywall\">\n<p>&ldquo;There is enough of an offense here; there&rsquo;s enough smoke here that should demand congressional hearings,&rdquo; Booker said on NBC News&rsquo;s <em>Meet the Press<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>When asked to present evidence of insider trading, Booker first skirted the question before saying, &ldquo;These are real, legitimate, justifiable questions.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Not to have hearings, not to do any kind of oversight, undermines the faith we have in our government, undermines the trust we need in our nation right now,&rdquo; Booker said.<\/p>\n<p>Pointing to Trump&rsquo;s tariff policy, Booker also said, &ldquo;There is no wisdom in this, the chaotic way he&rsquo;s doing it, the challenges he&rsquo;s putting on American families, in terms of costs, rising costs and jobs. This has no strategy. It has no sense. He&rsquo;s being attacked by people on the Left and the Right.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Last week, a group of 19 House Democrats wrote a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.documentcloud.org\/documents\/25894541-letter-to-sec-gao-re-insider-trading-041025-final-1\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">letter<\/a> to the head of the Securities and Exchange Commission requesting an &ldquo;immediate investigation into possible insider trading and market manipulation&rdquo; in the days leading up to Trump&rsquo;s reversal on tariffs.<\/p>\n<p>Sens.
