In a post on Truth social, Trump criticized these cities for purportedly protecting criminals over victims and described them as &#8220;death Traps.&#8221; His remarks come as he seeks to implement a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/migrant-crime-is-taking-over-america-trump-slams-biden-over-the-border-ahead-of-texas-visit\/\" title=\"Trump criticizes Biden over border situation ahead of Texas visit, claims migrant crime is increasing in America\">large-scale deportation operation<\/a> during his second term, which has faced obstacles from these sanctuary jurisdictions that refuse to <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\">detain illegal immigrants convicted<\/a> of non-immigration-related crimes. Trump has urged the same since taking office, and the announcement on Thursday signals progress.<\/p>\n<p>For years, sanctuary cities and states have sought to be havens for noncitizens regardless of their immigration status.<\/p>\n<p>But those sanctuary jurisdictions have simultaneously clashed with federal authorities as local elected officials vote to forbid law enforcement from turning over illegal immigrants in custody for non-immigration offenses, with few exceptions.<\/p>\n<p>Trump&rsquo;s focus on sanctuary zones comes nearly three months into his second term as he attempts to carry out the &ldquo;largest-ever&rdquo; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-campaign-claims-trump-wants-to-round-up-latinos-in-mass-detention-camps-after-he-promises-large-scale-deportation\/\" title=\"Biden campaign alleges Trump aims to detain and deport Latinos on a massive scale\">mass deportation operation<\/a>.
