These might include, for instance, an end to military interventionism or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/cattle-rancher-explains-trumps-tariffs-address-major-problems-will-great-time-industry\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tariffs<\/a> to help the working class. On those issues, Trump and some former Democrats have found common ground. In that sense, those issues now qualify as &ldquo;populist&rdquo; or &ldquo;America first&rdquo; rather than &ldquo;leftist.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Instead, the modern American &ldquo;left&rdquo; denotes something far more sinister.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Central to this belief system is Left-Wing Authoritarianism (LWA), characterized by moral absolutism, punitive attitudes toward ideological opponents, and a willingness to use coercion for progressive aims,&rdquo; the report read.<\/p>\n<p>In other words, this &ldquo;assassination culture&rdquo; has emerged among individuals whom <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/bill-maher-compares-woke-mob-enforcers-maos-cultural-revolution\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">20th-century Communists<\/a> would have recruited. Those kinds of people &mdash; the Communists and the recruits &mdash; spouted Marxist platitudes and spread mayhem in order to acquire power.<\/p>\n<p>They are the kind of people who cheered when <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/pam-bondi-drops-death-penalty-bomb-luigi-mangione-careful-consideration\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Luigi Mangione<\/a> allegedly took the life of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in December.<\/p>\n<p>Joel Finkelstein, lead author of the NCRI report, summarized its findings.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;What was formerly taboo culturally has become acceptable,&rdquo; Finkelstein told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/us\/new-bombshell-study-reveals-assassination-culture-spreading-left-under-president-trump\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fox News Digital<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Indeed, a survey of 1,264 U.S. residents produced once-unfathomable results.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Over half of those who self-identified as left of center (55.2 percent) reported that if someone murdered Donald Trump, they would be at least somewhat justified,&rdquo; the report read.<\/p>\n<p>More than half? That, of course, suggests substantial overlap between &ldquo;left of center&rdquo; and left-wing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/vs-u-s-study-exposes-profound-threat-authoritarian-elites-pose-ordinary-americans\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">authoritarianism<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;These are not isolated opinions,&rdquo; the report stated. &ldquo;They are part of a tightly connected belief system linked to what we <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\">call <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/cbs-airs-puff-piece-on-radical-left-wing-district-attorney-of-crime-ravaged-san-francisco\/\" title=\"CBS Airs Puff Piece on Radical ...-Wing District Attorney of Crime-Ravaged San Francisco\">left-wing authoritarianism<\/a><\/a>.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>In fact &mdash; and many of us have sensed this for years &mdash; one struggles to distinguish between the modern left&rsquo;s political agenda and its pathological hatred for Trump. The two have long since blended into one.<\/p>\n<p>To the extent that the modern left does have a distinctive political agenda, it includes authoritarian measures only. We saw this during the COVID madness, when leftists salivated over the power to impose masks, lockdowns, and mandates on their neighbors. We still see it in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/cancel-culture-queen-cancelled-lib-writer-sacked-lib-network-took-joy-ceos-murder\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cancel culture<\/a> and the radical <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/trans-violence-student-attacks-conservative-deadly-bike-lock-worst-state-possible\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">transgender<\/a> demand for access to women&rsquo;s spaces.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, the broader political discourse has changed in a way that facilitates left-wing authoritarianism. The establishment and its media allies, for instance, have spent so many years slandering Trump and those closest to him as &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/alert-armed-man-arrested-capitol-planned-kill-nazis-hegseth-mike-johnson-scott-bessent\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nazis<\/a>&rdquo; that one marvels at the fact that it took until July 13 for a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/secret-service-agent-protected-trump-butler-assassination-attempt-sworn-agency-director\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">would-be assassin<\/a> to take actual shots at the president.<\/p>\n<p>After all, if Trump resembles <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/kamala-harris-mocked-last-minute-desperation-play-turns-hitler-fearmongering\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Adolf Hitler<\/a>, then the angry and feeble minded would view the president&rsquo;s murder as justified. Remember, Hitler&rsquo;s own generals tried to assassinate him. The 2008 movie &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0985699\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Valkyrie<\/a>,&rdquo; starring veteran actor Tom Cruise, told the story of that plot. And did anyone in the audience cheer when Hitler survived?<\/p>\n<p>In short, the darkness of authoritarianism has overcome a significant percentage of those who call themselves &ldquo;leftists.&rdquo; And that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/boy-scouts-welcome-first-class-of-girl-eagle-scouts\/\" title=\"Boy Scouts Welcome First Class Of Girl Eagle Scouts\">began years ago<\/a>.
