Trump added.<\/p>\n<p>He also spoke briefly about the markets&rsquo; reaction to the tariffs, which as recently as Sunday night included Dow futures being <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2025\/04\/06\/business\/stocks-futures-sunday-tariffs\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"down more than 1,500 points\">down more than 1,500 points<\/a>, or 4%, as well as Japan&rsquo;s Nikkei <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2025\/04\/06\/business\/japan-nikkei-plunges-hnk-intl\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"declining\">declining<\/a> by more than 8% in morning trading.<\/p>\n<p>Trump said while he doesn&rsquo;t want to see sharp declines, &ldquo;sometimes you have to&nbsp;take medicine to fix something.&rdquo; <\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;What&rsquo;s going to happen to the markets I can&rsquo;t tell you. But our country is much stronger,&rdquo;&nbsp;he added.<\/p>\n<p>While no trade deal is in sight with China after it <a href=\"https:\/\/edition.cnn.com\/2025\/04\/04\/business\/china-us-tariffs-retaliation-hnk-intl\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"responded \">responded<\/a> to Trump&rsquo;s tariff with a 34% reciprocal tariff of its own, the president did indicate some European leaders are coming to the negotiating table.<\/p>\n<p>Asked about Elon Musk&rsquo;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/economy\/3371491\/musk-calls-for-zero-tariff-situation-us-europe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"recent comments\">recent comments<\/a> that he would like to see a &ldquo;zero tariff situation&rdquo; between the U.S. and Europe, Trump said &ldquo;they want to talk&rdquo; about a potential trade deal.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/washingtonexaminer.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\"><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;They are coming to the table.
