Brittany Pettersen (D-CO), previously aimed to facilitate remote voting for new parents, which Johnson labeled as &#8220;unconstitutional&#8221; and worked to stop. As part of their deal, the push for proxy voting will end, and they will rather formalize a system called &#8220;vote pairing,&#8221; which allows absent members to coordinate with present members to indicate how they would have voted. Brittany Pettersen (D-CO) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/house\/3366092\/first-rule-vote-mike-johnson-new-congress-fails-parent-proxy-voting\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">succeeded<\/a> in their efforts to sink a measure designed to disable new parents from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/chuck-schumer-cancels-october-votes-sends-senate-home-until-november-14\/\" title=\"Chuck Schumer Cancels October ...s, S...s Senate Home Until November 14\">voting remotely<\/a>. It allows the absent representative to record how they would have voted had they been present.<\/p>\n<p>To facilitate that, a source familiar with the matter told the <em>Washington Examine<\/em>r that members will &ldquo;need to find a pair or staff will find one for you.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/house\/3366092\/first-rule-vote-mike-johnson-new-congress-fails-parent-proxy-voting\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>FIRST&nbsp;HOUSE&nbsp;RULE VOTE UNDER JOHNSON&rsquo;S NEW CONGRESS FAILS OVER PROXY VOTING GOP REVOLT<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The agreement comes after nine Republicans joined all <a href=\"http:\/\/washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/house-democrats\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Democrats<\/a> in voting against the measure to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/oliver-stone-asks-congress-to-reopen-jfk-assassination-investigation-washington-examiner\/\" title=\"Oliver Stone asks Congress to reopen JFK assassination investigation - ...\">kill proxy voting<\/a>. Had it passed, it would have advanced the No Rogue Rulings Act and the SAVE Act.
