and that the arguments he was getting from them were &ldquo;pretty sketchy.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Trump, in return, has denounced <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/judge-boasberg-laying-foundation-hold-trump-administration-contempt-court\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Boasberg<\/a> as an &ldquo;activist&rdquo; and called for his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/articles-impeachment-filed-judge-ordered-trump-admin-comply-restraining-order\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">impeachment<\/a> on social media, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2025\/03\/18\/trump-impeachment-judge-deportations-00235173\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Politico<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This back and forth served as backstory for a Senate Judiciary Committee <a href=\"https:\/\/www.judiciary.senate.gov\/committee-activity\/hearings\/rule-by-district-judges-ii-exploring-legislative-solutions-to-the-bipartisan-problem-of-universal-injunctions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">hearing<\/a> on Wednesday titled &ldquo;Rule by District Judges II: Exploring Legislative Solutions to the Bipartisan Problem of Universal Injunctions.&rdquo; \t\t\t\t}); \t\t\t} \t\t<\/script> <\/p>\n<p>One of the individuals testifying was Jesse Panuccio, a former <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\">acting associate attorney general<\/a> of the U.S. during Trump&rsquo;s first term who&rsquo;s currently in private practice. During the hearing, Democratic Sen. Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota asked him, with all the concern she could fake, whether he was worried about this talk to the same extent she pretended to be.<\/p>\n<p>Panuccio&rsquo;s response, TL;DR: Sure, but it would have helped if you cared about this a few years ago.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;President Trump&rsquo;s attacks on these judges has made for some major, major risks for these judges,&rdquo; Klobuchar said.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Not in a partisan way, just normal, as a partner in a law firm, would you ever &mdash; have you ever taken to social media to personally attack a judge who ruled against you? That&rsquo;s all my question is,&rdquo; she asked.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Senator, thanks for the question,&rdquo; Panuccio replied. &ldquo;I think that attacking judges personally, and not their reasoning, well, let me just give you a quote: &lsquo;I want to tell you, Gorsuch, I want to tell you, Kavanaugh, you have released the whirlwind and you will pay the price &mdash;&rsquo;&rdquo; Panuccio said.<\/p>\n<p>Klobuchar realized <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/schumers-scotus-comments-designed-mislead-public\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">where this was going<\/a> and tried to interrupt, but Panuccio wasn&rsquo;t having it.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;&lsquo;You won&rsquo;t know what hit you if you go forward with those awful decisions.&rsquo; That was something that Sen. Schumer said,&rdquo; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I thought it was awful, and it unleashed a wave of violent threats against Supreme Court Justices. Jim Jordan (@Jim_Jordan) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Jim_Jordan\/status\/1235306945864663044?\">March 4, 2020<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Yes, that was the then-Senate majority leader and current Senate minority leader implicitly threatening Supreme Court justices he didn&rsquo;t agree with.<\/p>\n<p>Making this especially bad for Klobuchar is the fact that a man <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/pro-abortion-man-pleads-guilty-plotting-kill-supreme-court-justice-brett-kavanaugh\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pleaded guilty<\/a> to trying to make Kavanaugh feel &ldquo;the whirlwind&rdquo; &mdash; i.e., attempted assassination &mdash; on the same day and in the same city in which this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/house-gop-votes-to-remove-rep-cheney-as-conference-chair\/\" title=\"House GOP votes to remove Rep. Cheney as conference chair\">hearing held<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Of all the days not to fall into this trap, this was it &mdash; but <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/amy-klobuchar-deflects-hunter-biden-question-chuck-todds-facial-expression-says\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Klobuchar<\/a> went right ahead, then tried to brush this off with a remark that, &ldquo;I have no doubt the language is a problem on the left or right.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>However, it&rsquo;s worth noting that this is overwhelmingly a problem of the left. In fact, if you want to trace the current situation back to its root, it began with then-President Barack Obama scolding the Supreme Court at the 2010 State of the Union address over the campaign finance case Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission: &ldquo;Last week, the Supreme Court reversed a century of law that I believe will open the floodgates for special interests,&rdquo; he said at the time.<\/p>\n<div class=\"firefly-embed\"> <iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Justice Grimaces As Obama Criticizes Court\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/k92SerxLWtc?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>This was unheard of at that juncture, but the Democrats made sure we heard much more of it.<\/p>\n<p>Go from there to Democrats torpedoing the judicial filibuster and then complaining that the Republicans were taking advantage of the lack of filibuster once they regained the White House, to the specious attempts at derailing Trump&rsquo;s three Supreme Court nominees on the basis of a &ldquo;stolen seat,&rdquo; to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/christine-blasey-fords-attorney-admits-protecting-abortion-part-motivation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">sexual assault allegation<\/a> that turned into a media circus with little to evidence back it up, to attacks on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/msnbc-host-throws-sick-anti-catholic-slur-amy-coney-barrett-texas-abortion-ruling\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/what-supreme-court-reforms-will-biden-support-washington-examiner\/\" title=\"What ... reforms will Biden support? - Washington Examiner\">justices&#038;rsquo<\/a>; religious beliefs<\/a> to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/impeachment-articles-filed-clarence-thomas-samuel-alito-aocs-fear-scotus-takes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">relentless ethical smears<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>You can pretty much draw a straight line from that State of the Union to now.
