<a href=\"https:\/\/www.courier-journal.com\/story\/news\/local\/2025\/04\/04\/louisville-ge-appliance-park-workers-chnv-visas-revoked-immigration-crackdown\/82761540007\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">according to<\/a> the <em>Courier Journal<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The warning comes just two weeks after the Trump administration <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/immigration\/3355968\/us-revoke-legal-status-migrants-biden-administration-program-chnv\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">announced<\/a> it would revoke parole for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbp.gov\/newsroom\/national-media-release\/cbp-releases-december-2024-monthly-update\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">roughly 531,000<\/a> immigrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela who were admitted into the country through the former President Joe Biden-era CHNV program.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The termination of the CHNV parole programs, and the termination of the parole for those who exploited it, is a return to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/sen-rubio-says-president-trumps-policies-resonate-with-hispanic-voters\/\" title=\"Sen. Rubio says President Trump\u2019s policies resonate with Hispanic voters\">common sense policies<\/a>, a return to public safety, and a return to America First,&rdquo; the DHS said in a statement Friday. <\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The previous administration lied to America,&rdquo; the DHS stated. &ldquo;They allowed more than half a million loosely vetted aliens from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela and their immediate family members to enter the United States through these disastrous parole programs, granted them opportunities to compete for American jobs and undercut American workers; <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\">forced career civil servants<\/a> to promote the programs even when fraud was identified; and then blamed Republicans in Congress for the chaos that ensued and the crime that followed.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Heather Atkinson, president of the union representing the GE Appliance Park workers, denounced the Trump administration&rsquo;s action.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We have over 20 languages spoken at Appliance Park, and we believe diversity is a strength, not a weakness,&rdquo; Atkinson, head of the International Union of Electrical Workers\/Communications Workers of America Local 83761, told the<em> Courier Journal<\/em>. &ldquo;We are encouraging all members who have received these notices to seek legal counsel regarding their rights and call on the administration to restore their status immediately.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Parole is a two-year period in which the recipient can work legally in the country, but once that two-year term is over, the immigrant must leave the U.S.<\/p>\n<p>Halfway through the Biden administration, CBP added an immigration function to its CBP One app. This allowed CHNV immigrants to apply for admission if they had a financial sponsor inside the U.S. and could pay for their own commercial airline ticket into the country. CBP would then screen, vet, and decide each individual&rsquo;s case once they had flown into one of <a href=\"https:\/\/urldefense.com\/v3\/__https:\/house.us11.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=98549d605f077248c2019d3db&amp;id=32f568b637&amp;e=b65df44cde__;!!Bg5easoyC-OII2vlEqY8mTBrtW-N4OJKAQ!NPYynse-GJ8zIEX4x69sYEK8rTjhdQ69gts6jRh-g98YTjIYdJ6rqX6opA814VSrBfGRcjRJO5dh4lAWD6o6MjTCYlDPZIndXg9IzDU_OLHmHcrEhvRU%24\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">50 U.S. airports<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The hope was that it would radically decrease the number of immigrants illegally entering the U.S. from Mexico by walking over the border between ports of entry.<\/p>\n<p>The use of parole came under sharp criticism from Republicans in mid-2024 when the DHS&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/immigration\/3109040\/biden-dhs-halts-immigration-program-fraud-claims-migrants\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">suspended<\/a>&nbsp;the program following a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fairus.org\/news\/executive\/internal-homeland-security-report-proves-biden-harris-mayorkas-chnv-parole-program\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">report<\/a>&nbsp;by the Federation for American Immigration Reform that found an internal government audit documented a large number of fraudulent applications as the U.S. admitted nearly half a million migrants from four countries.<\/p>\n<p>The report by the Foundation Against Intolerance and Racism, a nonprofit group in Washington that supports restricting immigration levels, said the Social Security numbers of deceased sponsors in the U.S. and fake phone numbers were used on applications.<\/p>\n<p>In another example, 100 Internet Protocol addresses used to access the internet, in other words, the connection from a particular phone, tablet, or computer, were used to apply in more than 51,133 instances.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/immigration\/3365394\/democratic-sheriff-garry-mcfadden-points-at-ice-over-immigration-enforcement\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/white-house\/3137902\/dhs-resumes-chnv-program-fraud-new-migrant-vetting-protocols\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">reinstated<\/a> the program late last summer and maintained that it had made security enhancements to better screen applicants.<\/p>\n<p>DHS agency U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services did not respond to a
