the fact sheet said.<\/p>\n<p>The document also said trade deficits &ldquo;resulted in a lack of incentive to <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\">increase advanced domestic manufacturing capacity<\/a>; undermined critical supply chains; and rendered our defense-industrial base dependent on foreign adversaries.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Trump issued the new tariffs using his authority under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act of 1977.<\/p>\n<p>All countries were subjected to a baseline 10 percent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/republicans-help-dems-pass-bill-block-trump-tariffs-24-hours-canadian-leader-wanted-give-trump-everything\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tariff<\/a>, which will formally take effect on April 5.<\/p>\n<p>He also imposed &ldquo;an individualized reciprocal higher tariff on the countries with which the United States has the largest trade deficits.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Those individualized <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/flashback-bidens-commerce-secretary-admitted-trumps-tariffs-work\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tariffs<\/a> will enter into effect on April 9.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;These tariffs will remain in effect until such a time as President Trump determines that the threat posed by the trade deficit and underlying nonreciprocal treatment is satisfied, resolved, or mitigated,&rdquo;
