\t\t\t\t}); \t\t\t} \t\t<\/script> <\/p>\n<p>Neither trail yielded anything of note.<\/p>\n<p>However, officials now appear to have pinpointed the cause of death, which was carbon monoxide poisoning, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2025\/04\/03\/world\/americas\/miller-gardner-carbon-monoxide-poisoning-cause-death.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according to<\/a>&nbsp;the New York Times.<\/p>\n<p>The outlet added: &ldquo;A toxicology report after his death found high levels of carboxyhemoglobin, an indicator of carbon monoxide in the blood, according to a statement from Randall Z&uacute;&ntilde;iga, the director of the Costa Rica Judicial Investigation Agency.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Miller Gardner&rsquo;s test showed a saturation of 64 percent, he said, adding that anything over 50 percent was lethal.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Z&uacute;&ntilde;iga added that other tests were performed, such as for drugs, and they all came back negative.<\/p>\n<p>He also noted that the case should effectively be closed.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Prior to today&rsquo;s game, we held a moment of silence to remember Miller Gardner, the son of former Yankees outfielder Brett Gardner.<\/p>\n<p>Miller had a spark in his eyes, an outgoing and feisty personality, and a warm and loving nature. The levels in the hotel room were non-existent and non-lethal. There was an error in this initial reporting,&rdquo; hotel representative Dana Cohen told <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/brett-gardner-son-costa-rica-hotel-refutes-died-carbon-monoxide-poisoning-11707233\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">People magazine<\/a>. &ldquo;As mentioned, we await for conclusive results to confirm the cause of this unfortunate death.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The statement appeared to be in response to this from Z&uacute;&ntilde;iga in a March 30 video: &ldquo;At that time, high levels of carbon monoxide contamination were detected in that room.
