While hospitals have made strides in closing employment gaps\u2014reporting an 8% increase in healthcare employment since 2019\u2014there are still significant shortages, with about 10% of hospital positions remaining unfilled and <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\">double-digit vacancy rates persisting<\/a> in six out of 18 professions. This issue is expected to worsen as Wisconsin&#8217;s population ages, leading to a higher demand for healthcare services.<\/p>\n<p>the report also emphasizes financial concerns, pointing to a growing disparity between the costs of providing care and the reimbursement rates from government and private insurers.In 2023, Medicaid reimbursement was 37% below actual costs, while Medicare was 26% below. Care that could be provided in an outpatient setting for younger people often requires a hospital stay or a greater number of diagnostic services or clinical interventions for older individuals,&rdquo; the Hospital Association wrote. &ldquo;The cost of this higher intensity care is often not recognized by payers or the algorithms or averages they utilize to approve care.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Payers and payments are another huge worry for the WHA.<\/p>\n<p>The report notes a growing gap between what it costs hospitals to prove care, and what the government or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/an-over-the-counter-birth-control-pill-provides-a-pro-life-pro-capitalist-alternative-to-the-contraception-mandate\/\" title=\"An OTC birth control pill offers a pro-life, pro-capitalist option to the contraception requirement\">private insurers pay<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;In Wisconsin, government payers, Medicare and Medicaid, already account for close to two-thirds of hospital revenues and this will only increase as our population ages,&rdquo; the report states, &ldquo;In Wisconsin in 2023, Medicaid reimbursed hospitals 37% below their actual cost to provide care; Medicare was 26% short.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The report doesn&rsquo;t provide a dollar amount for that gap.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/white-house\/3292730\/all-executive-orders-actions-trump-first-day\/\"><strong>LIST: THE EXECUTIVE ORDERS, ACTIONS, AND PROCLAMATIONS TRUMP HAS MADE AS PRESIDENT<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>But the WHA does warn that if the gap is not closed there will be &ldquo;pressure on the health care workforce, service availability and patient access&rdquo;
