During a recent work session, Parish Administrator Erica Bryant presented updated statistics showing just three juveniles in detention, along with various other figures related to juvenile justice: two in the Office of Juvenile Justice, three aged 17, 24 under the chief court counselor’s supervision, and 423 on probation.

This reduction is significant, down from 19 detained juveniles reported on March 17, alongside comparable trends seen in previous months. As an example, there were 24 juveniles in detention and 452 probation cases reported in February. Local crime trends indicate a drop in juvenile arrests as well.

Additionally, residents in Caddo Parish recently voted against Amendment No. 3,which would have allowed certain juvenile offenders to be tried as adults, with 67% casting votes against the revision. This reflects a community stance toward juvenile justice policies and their impact on crime rates in the parish.

Caddo Parish sees a significant decrease in reported juvenile detention numbers

(The Center Square) — During Monday’s Caddo Parish Commission work session, newly reported numbers show a significant decrease in juvenile detention numbers since March 17.

Parish Administrator Erica Bryant shared the updated juvenile report in Monday’s work session.
