The attacks come as left-wing activists express their frustrations over Musk&rsquo;s large role in the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/3359088\/trump-newsmax-interview-greg-kelly\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Trump administration<\/a>, launching <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/3363353\/anti-musk-protest-tesla-takedown-global-day-of-action-after-violence-arrests\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">protests across the country<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The New York pension system&rsquo;s Tesla holdings have been duly affected. Its Tesla holdings dropped by 34% between Dec. 31, 2024, and March 28 &mdash; from $1.26 billion to $831 million.<\/p>\n<p>New York City Comptroller Brad Lander is looking to mount a major legal response to Musk&rsquo;s impact. In a Monday letter to the New York City Law Department, viewed by the <em>New York Times<\/em>, Lander argued that Musk was &ldquo;promoting policies&rdquo; at DOGE that hurt the company and &ldquo;effectively quitting his job at Tesla.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;As the market has learned the truth, bit by bit, that Musk has in fact abandoned Tesla in favor of DOGE, where he was taking actions that alienated Tesla&rsquo;s consumer base and causing Tesla&rsquo;s sales to severely decline, the share price has dropped in response,&rdquo; Lander wrote.<\/p>\n<p>The letter was addressed to Muriel Goode-Trufant, the corporation counsel for New York City, making the letter a likely precursor to a lawsuit.<\/p>\n<p>The <em>Washington Examiner<\/em> reached out to Lander for comment.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview with the <em>New York Times<\/em>, Lander said the company falsely claimed Musk spent &ldquo;significant time on the company and is highly active.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;No other corporate board allows the CEO to barely show up for work<em>,&rdquo;<\/em> he said.<\/p>\n<p>Lander is also running for mayor of New York, but he is far behind in the polls to former Gov. Andrew Cuomo.<\/p>\n<p>Musk has acknowledged that his work with DOGE has negatively impacted Tesla&rsquo;s finances, blaming the campaign of violence against Tesla properties.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;My Tesla stock and the stock of everyone who holds Tesla has gone, went roughly in half,&rdquo; he said at a Wisconsin town hall this weekend. &ldquo;I mean it&rsquo;s a big deal.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/elon-musk-net-worth-tesla-stock-market-doge-2053219\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"According to\">According to<\/a> <em>Newsweek<\/em>, Musk&rsquo;s net worth has declined by roughly $121 billion since December 2024.<\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/3365112\/doj-bondi-charge-man-tesla-bombing-20-years-prison\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">DOJ SEEKING 20 YEARS IN PRISON FOR ALLEGED TESLA DEALERSHIP BOMBER<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p>Musk&rsquo;s time as a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/top-biden-coronavirus-adviser-announces-last-day-in-job\/\" title=\"Top Biden Coronavirus Adviser Announces Last Day in Job\">special government employee<\/a> at the agency is set to expire on May 31.
