Kamala Harris, Once Accused Of Abuse\">pro-immigration organizations<\/a>, including the American Civil Liberties Union and the National Immigration Law center, has filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration regarding its requirement for illegal immigrants to register with the federal government. The lawsuit, initiated in federal court in Washington, D.C., claims that this requirement would essentially transform the U.S.into a &#8220;show me your papers&#8221; state, leading to potential harassment of immigrants and citizens based on their appearance or language.<\/p>\n<p>DHS Secretary Kristi Noem had announced a website for immigrant registration as part of an initiative that stems from a presidential executive order aimed at enforcing compliance with immigration laws. This new <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\">rule requires immigrants aged 14<\/a> or older who haven&#8217;t previously registered to do so, or risk facing criminal and civil penalties, including hefty fines and imprisonment.<\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit argues that the rule was implemented without the necessary public comment period and is poorly worded, which could generate confusion.
