Bondi emphasized that claims of voter suppression are false,asserting that Black voter turnout actually increased since the implementation of Georgia&#8217;s SB 202 law,which was signed in March 2021. This law expanded voting opportunities while introducing voter ID requirements for absentee ballots. <\/p>\n<p>Critics, including President Biden, labeled SB 202 as &#8220;Jim Crow in the 21st Century,&#8221; sparking significant controversy. The DOJ&#8217;s lawsuit alleged the law violated the Voting Rights Act by intending too disenfranchise Black voters. Despite these allegations, data from the 2022 midterm elections indicated a surge in nonwhite voter turnout\u2014around 100,000 more compared to the previous midterm in 2018. <\/p>\n<p>Following a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/stopped-cold-federal-judge-blocks-final-part-of-biden-vaccine-mandate\/\" title=\"\u2018Stopped Cold\u2019: Federal Judge Blocks Final Part Of Biden Vaccine Mandate\">federal court decision<\/a>, it was determined that ther was no evidence that the provisions of the law intentionally discriminated against Black voters. The court ruled that the Biden administration and affiliated groups did not demonstrate a substantial likelihood of success in their claims against the law. Voter experiences from recent elections have also shown improvements, with many <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\">reporting easier voting conditions<\/a> than in previous cycles.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Attorney General Pam Bondi announced Monday the Department of Justice (DOJ) would drop the &ldquo;Biden-era lawsuit that falsely accused Georgia of intentionally suppressing Black voters&rsquo; votes.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Contrary to the Biden Administration&rsquo;s false claims of suppression, Black voter turnout actually increased under SB 202,&rdquo; Bondi said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/opa\/pr\/attorney-general-pamela-bondi-dismisses-biden-era-lawsuit-against-commonsense-georgia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">statement<\/a>. &ldquo;Georgians deserve secure elections, not fabricated claims of false voter suppression meant to divide us. Americans can be confident that this Department of Justice will protect their vote and never play politics with election integrity.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp signed SB 202 into law in March of 2021. The legislation <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rpc.senate.gov\/policy-papers\/myth-v-fact-georgias-election-integrity-act\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">expanded<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gpb.org\/news\/2021\/03\/23\/whats-similar-and-different-about-georgias-two-omnibus-voting-bills\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">voting opportunities<\/a> while adding a requirement for voter ID for absentee voting. The legislation set off a flurry of deliberately false and inflammatory allegations, with then-President Joe Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/speeches-remarks\/2021\/03\/26\/statement-by-president-biden-on-the-attack-on-the-right-to-vote-in-georgia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">calling<\/a> the legislation &ldquo;Jim Crow in the 21st Century.&rdquo; Failed gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/kylegriffin1\/status\/1375252410768195585\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">called<\/a> the legislation &ldquo;blatantly unconstitutional&rdquo; and &ldquo;nothing less than Jim Crow 2.0.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>As a result, the Biden DOJ issued a lawsuit alleging the legislation violated Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act. As detailed by The Federalist&rsquo;s <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/06\/29\/9-most-insane-lies-about-georgias-voter-id-law-in-dojs-lawsuit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Margot Cleveland<\/a>, the Biden-DOJ &ldquo;opened its complaint by proclaiming that the Georgia legislature enacted the law &lsquo;against the backdrop of Georgia&rsquo;s history of discrimination against Black Georgians.&#8217;&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/storage.courtlistener.com\/recap\/gov.uscourts.gand.291671\/gov.uscourts.gand.291671.1.0.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">complaint<\/a> alleges &ldquo;the Georgia General Assembly intended to deny or abridge the right of Black Georgians to vote on account of race or color.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Despite the allegations, nonwhite voter turnout <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/05\/25\/after-joe-biden-media-smeared-georgia-voting-rules-as-jim-crow-2-0-non-white-turnout-boomed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">boomed<\/a> during the 2022 midterm elections. Data from the <a href=\"https:\/\/sos.ga.gov\/news\/georgia-election-law-results-record-early-voting-turnout\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Georgia&rsquo;s Secretary of State<\/a> office found there were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/corner\/much-higher-minority-early-voting-in-georgias-upcoming-primaries\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">approximately 100,000<\/a> more nonwhite voters who cast a vote during the 2022 midterm election than compared to 2018. Seventy-year-old Patsy Reid &mdash; a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/texas-politician-flips-to-gop-condemns-democratic-party\/\" title=\"Texas Politician Flips to GOP, Condemns Democratic Party\">black woman &#038;mdash<\/a>; even told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2022\/05\/21\/voting-is-surging-georgia-despite-controversial-new-election-law\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Washington Post<\/a> that she was shocked how easy it was to vote during the 2022 primaries after the left tried convincing her that Republicans would &ldquo;deter us in any way possible&rdquo; from voting.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I had heard that they were going to try to deter us in any way possible because of the fact that we didn&rsquo;t go Republican on the last election, when Trump didn&rsquo;t win,&rdquo; Reid told The Post. &ldquo;To go in there and vote as easily as I did and to be treated with the respect that I knew I deserved as an American citizen &mdash; I was really thrown back.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>In fact, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2023\/01\/23\/poll-0-black-voters-say-they-had-poor-experience-voting-georgia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">poll<\/a> conducted post-election found zero percent of black Georgia voters said they had a &ldquo;poor&rdquo; experience during the 2022 contest. <\/p>\n<p>Roughly one year later, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/10\/12\/court-no-evidence-georgias-election-integrity-law-discriminates-against-black-voters\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">struck down Democrats&rsquo; request<\/a> for a preliminary injunction that sought to block provisions of the law from taking effect after arguing the legislation discriminates against black voters. The suit alleged that provisions of the law limiting ballot drop boxes, increasing regulations around provisional ballots and tightening &ldquo;the time frame in which voters can request an absentee ballot before Election Day&rdquo; intentionally discriminated against black voters, as reported by The Federalist&rsquo;s <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/10\/12\/court-no-evidence-georgias-election-integrity-law-discriminates-against-black-voters\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Shawn Fleetwood<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Judge J.P. Boulee <a href=\"https:\/\/www.courthousenews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/GA-Senate-Bill-202-injunction-denied-usdc-northern-ga.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ruled<\/a> the Biden administration and Democrat-affiliated groups &ldquo;failed to show a substantial likelihood of success on the merits as to their claims that the provisions &hellip; intentionally discriminate against black voters in violation of the Fourteenth Amendment, Fifteenth Amendment and Section 2 of the [Voting Rights Act].&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Even this <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/10\/16\/record-voter-turnout-wrecks-democrats-jim-crow-2-0-lies-about-georgia-election-integrity-law\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">past election cycle<\/a> voters told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2024\/10\/15\/politics\/early-voting-record-georgia\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CNN<\/a> it was far more &ldquo;easy&rdquo; to vote than in previous cycles. <\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Last time I voted, I voted in the city, and the lines were out the door,&rdquo; Corine Canada, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=H33sF-69DWU\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">black woman<\/a>, told CNN. &ldquo;They only had like, maybe like three people working. And so people honestly just started leaving because it was like that. Yeah, like, &lsquo;This is too long.
