Since then, Trump nominated former Reps. Matt Gaetz and Mike Waltz for attorney general and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/breaking-president-trump-to-pardon-gen-michael-flynn-per-report\/\" title=\"BREAKING: President ... to Pardon Gen. Michael Flynn, Per Report\">national security adviser<\/a>, respectively, only to have Gaetz withdraw his nomination after resigning from the House. Rep. Elise&nbsp;Stefanik&nbsp;(R-NY) was slated to become the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations but has since had that nomination withdrawn so she could remain in the House and help her party <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/house\/3361333\/white-house-elise-stefanik-un-nomination-pulled-gop-math\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">cling to the smaller majority<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Democrats have also had two representatives die in recent weeks: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/house\/3337836\/house-democrat-sylvester-turner-dies-at-70\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Sylvester Turner<\/a> of Texas and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/house\/3347328\/rep-raul-grijalva-dies-77-cancer-battle\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Raul Grijalva<\/a>&nbsp;of Arizona.
