Vance, among others.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The military requires accountability. It&rsquo;s the most accountable organization. You are supposed to be accountable to higher-ups. Politics isn&rsquo;t supposed to have to do with any of this, and the fact that that&rsquo;s happening, that they&rsquo;re just basically saying nothing to do here, is a big problem, I think, for those who believe in accountability,&rdquo; she told Jennings.<\/p>\n<p>Talk about opening yourself up to a counterpoint broadside: Tanden left herself wide open, and Jennings took the opportunity to state the obvious.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I think Republicans aren&rsquo;t interested in any lectures on accountability in the military after the Biden administration. I mean, the bar for getting rid of a Secretary of Defense is apparently pretty high. It&rsquo;s the most&hellip; <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/jKZhU7fwEo\">pic.twitter.com\/jKZhU7fwEo<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; The Vigilant Fox &#129418; (@VigilantFox) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/VigilantFox\/status\/1905452800751829481?\">March 28, 2025<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Jennings was, of course, referring to the disastrous August 2021 Afghanistan pull-out that left <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/trump-shows-pay-respects-anniversary-13-americans-killed-afghanistan-kamala-defends-biden-harris-admin-policy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">13 American soldiers<\/a> and approximately 160 Afghan civilians dead following a suicide bombing.<\/p>\n<p>Former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley later <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2024\/03\/19\/politics\/top-generals-who-oversaw-us-withdrawal-from-afghanistan-slam-state-department-for-delaying-emergency-evacuation\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">testified<\/a> that then-President Joe Biden had set an artificial timetable to have the withdrawal complete by the 20th anniversary of the September 11 attacks that year.<\/p>\n<p>He also set the parameters for the number of American troops that could be left in the country during the withdrawal, which prompted the military to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2021\/09\/28\/us\/politics\/milley-senate-hearing-afghanistan.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">give up the Bagram Air Base<\/a> in favor of carrying out the final evacuation from the crowded Kabul airport.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Bro your party got 13 American soldiers killed in Afghanistan and then treated their families like garbage. Save the hysterics please. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/0p22Kxj4bZ\">https:\/\/t.co\/0p22Kxj4bZ<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Scott Jennings (@ScottJenningsKY) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ScottJenningsKY\/status\/1904575564062560656?\">March 25, 2025<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Milley further said he had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2024\/03\/19\/politics\/top-generals-who-oversaw-us-withdrawal-from-afghanistan-slam-state-department-for-delaying-emergency-evacuation\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">recommended<\/a> keeping between 2,500 to 4,500 soldiers in Afghanistan to be a stabilizing force to prevent the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/american-freed-taliban-captivity-speaks-thank-god-back-white-house\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Taliban<\/a> from taking back over, which was also rejected by the administration.<\/p>\n<p>The only people higher than him in the chain of commend were then-Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and Biden. One way or the other, Austin <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/lloyd-austin-risking-jail-refusing-address-congress-afghanistan-surrender\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">owns the fiasco<\/a>. Either he agreed with Milley but allowed the withdrawal to go forward anyway, or he sided with Biden, therefore displaying incredibly poor judgment.<\/p>\n<p>If he agreed with Milley and Biden ordered him to execute what the defense secretary knew to be a flawed plan, it was his responsibility to resign, if need be, to make that point, rather than put American soldiers needlessly at risk.<\/p>\n<p>Austin&rsquo;s other major screwup was how he<a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/house-committee-demands-answers-lloyd-austin-summons-secretary-defense-capitol-hill\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> handled his prostate cancer diagnosis<\/a> and treatment in late 2023 and early 2024. Neither he nor anyone at the Pentagon informed the White House after he was taken by ambulance to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center on Jan. 1, 2024, due to complications and admitted to an intensive care unit, the <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/austin-hospital-defense-secretary-biden-fe9060f1e277db706d3cee6cae1d2562\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Associated Press<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, the Pentagon issued a statement on Jan. 5, 2024, about the matter. Perhaps even more troubling, Biden did not notice his secretary of defense was missing while the U.S. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/drone-attacks-target-us-forces-across-iraq\/\" title=\"Drone Attacks Target US Forces Across Iraq\">military conducted strikes<\/a> in Iraq during this timeframe.<\/p>\n<p>So Jennings is right.
