In the New York legislature, Democratic state Sen. Tesla brokered a deal in 2014 to allow its five stores to continue selling directly to consumers rather than through a third-party franchise.<\/p>\n<p>Fahy&rsquo;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nysenate.gov\/legislation\/bills\/2025\/S6894\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"legislation\">legislation<\/a> would allow &ldquo;new [zero-emission vehicle] manufacturers who were not previously granted certificates to enter the market, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/are-trumps-tariffs-here-to-stay\/\" title=\"Will Trump...s tariffs remain?\">ensuring fair access<\/a> to this limited opportunity.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Another Democrat in the New York legislature, Assemblyman Bobby Carroll, said he wants to end direct sales in the state rather than offer permits to other EV manufacturers.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/crime\/3359861\/dc-police-investigate-tesla-attack-hate-crime-penalty\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"DC POLICE TO INVESTIGATE TESLA ATTACKS AS HATE CRIMES WITH HEFTIER PENALTIES\">DC POLICE TO INVESTIGATE TESLA ATTACKS AS HATE CRIMES WITH HEFTIER PENALTIES<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Tesla showrooms across the country have seen protests in response to Musk&rsquo;s work as an adviser in the White House. The vehicles have also become targets of vandalism and attacks.<\/p>\n<p>In Washington, D.C., police <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/crime\/3359861\/dc-police-investigate-tesla-attack-hate-crime-penalty\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"announced\">announced<\/a> plans to investigate attacks on Tesla vehicles as hate crimes, which could incur steeper penalties.
