Following the Republican victory in the 2024 elections, the organization has seemingly removed references from its website regarding its past advocacy efforts against conservative outlets.Initially,Check My Ads proudly outlined its success in defunding conservative media, including significant reductions in ad revenue for outlets like Breitbart and Fox News. however, after the election, they edited their homepage to remove this content, focusing instead on issues unrelated to political biases.

the organization’s funding links to major liberal donors like Pierre omidyar and the Ford Foundation indicate a connection to the broader progressive movement. Despite its claims of nonpartisanship, evidence suggests a history of targeting conservative media. Key figures within Check My Ads, such as co-founders Nandini Jammi and Claire Atkin, have strong ties to past anti-conservative campaigns and progressive activism. As they continue to influence public policy, their shift in messaging might reflect a strategic move to navigate the changing political landscape under a Republican administration. The article highlights the complexity of the organization’s role in the ongoing conversation about disinformation, advertising, and political influence.

Anti-conservative disinformation group quietly rebranded following Trump victory

An organization that previously boasted about pressuring advertisers to cease business with conservative news outlets removed references to that work from the front page of its website shortly after Republicans won back control of the federal government in November, a Washington Examiner review found.

Check My Ads Institute is an activist organization founded in 2022 to stop advertising dollars from supporting what it deems to be disinformation or hate speech.
