This initiative comes in response to various judicial rulings that have impeded President Donald Trump’s agenda, especially during a time when the Trump administration has faced challenges from federal courts halting key policies.

If passed, the bill would establish a three-judge panel, appointed by Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts, to review rulings against the executive branch. Lee argues that it’s crucial for the government to function without being undermined by individual judges who issue broad injunctions that interfere with executive decisions.

Lee’s efforts are part of a broader Republican strategy to address frustrations over federal judges’ decisions, including calls from Trump and other Republicans for the impeachment of certain judges. However, Lee’s bill presents an alternative pathway for Republicans hesitant to pursue drastic actions against specific judges, as it would require majority agreement among panel judges for rulings, all of which would remain subject to Supreme court appeals.

house Republicans are also considering separate measures to curtail judicial authority, indicating a collective effort within the party to respond to what they deem as judicial activism. The discussions and potential legislation signify ongoing tensions between the judiciary and the executive branch, especially in the political context surrounding Trump’s presidency.

Mike Lee targets ‘unconstitutional overreach’ with bill checking federal judges

EXCLUSIVE – Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) is working to curb what Republicans are denouncing as overreach from “unelected radicals in robes” following a series of judicial rulings that have hamstrung President Donald Trump’s agenda.

Lee is introducing the Restraining Judicial Activists Act of 2025, first shared with the Washington Examiner on Monday as congressional Republicans look for ways to check the powers of judges who have ruled against the Trump administration in recent weeks.

Recommended Stories

Trump’s nominee to lead Social Security Administration to face questions over DOGE cuts

Musk showed openness to Congress voting on DOGE cuts: Rand Paul

Sanders tries to end ABC News interview over idea AOC could replace Schumer: ‘Inside development stuff’

If enacted, the bill would create a three<a href="https://www.conservativenewsdaily.net/breaking-news/supreme-court-rules-in-favor-of-republicans-in-crucial-redistricting-battle/" title="...
