The closest opening weekend comparison to <em>Snow White<\/em>&rsquo;s would be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.boxofficemojo.com\/release\/rl2675869185\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">2019&rsquo;s <em>Dumbo<\/em> remake<\/a>, which opened to a little less than $46 million and went on to gross under $115 million in North America.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Ahead of the release of <em>Snow White<\/em>, which was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vanityfair.com\/hollywood\/2023\/10\/disney-delays-live-action-snow-white-pulls-jonathan-majors-awards-drama?srsltid=AfmBOoq2MJanBEX-IbJjUsroEH5mBQdJeUoyfwkw_7VPr-TkKxl88d4w\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">delayed from its 2024 release in October 2023<\/a>, the film generated controversy when Zegler, who plays the title character, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/tv-movies\/tv-movie-news\/rachel-zegler-apologizes-anti-trump-post-2024-election-1235168444\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">expressed hope on social media that President Donald Trump and his supporters would &ldquo;never know peace.&rdquo;<\/a> Zegler later apologized for those remarks, claiming she &ldquo;let my emotions get the best of me.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Zegler also drew attention in August 2024 when she said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/entertainment\/3121763\/snow-white-actress-free-palestine-disney-debuts-trailer-featuring-israeli-gal-gadot\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">&ldquo;free Palestine<\/a>.&rdquo; The actress&rsquo;s co-star in the film, Gal Gadot, is Israeli and expressed support for Israel in October 2023 following Hamas&rsquo;s attack on the country.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/entertainment\/3356422\/bill-maher-refuses-play-mean-girls-game-critics-trump-meeting\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">BILL MAHER REFUSES TO PLAY &lsquo;MEAN GIRLS&rsquo; GAME WITH CRITICS OF HIS TRUMP MEETING<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Reviews for Disney&rsquo;s latest offering, which only went public about a day before the film began playing in theaters on Thursday, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/entertainment\/3353311\/hi-no-snow-white-critics-give-grumpy-review-of-disney-live-action-remake\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">were not particularly kind<\/a>, as the film currently sits at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rottentomatoes.com\/m\/disneys_snow_white\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">43% on movie review website Rotten Tomatoes<\/a> as of Sunday evening.
