sans her husband, former President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/michelle-obama-snubs-trump-week-barack-donald-laughed-together\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Barack Obama<\/a> &mdash; recently launched a new YouTube podcast series with her brother, Craig Robinson (no, not the actor from &ldquo;The Office&rdquo;).<\/p>\n<p>Calling her show &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/@michelleobama\/videos\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">IMO<\/a>,&rdquo; (an internet acronym for &ldquo;In My Opinion&rdquo;), Obama presented her new venture as a sort of behind-the-scenes look at her life, interspersed with her thoughts on various world events, while calling in her famous friends for some name recognition.<\/p>\n<p>As a random example of what to expect of this show, Michelle recently revealed her &ldquo;pet peeve&rdquo; \t\t\t\t}); \t\t\t} \t\t<\/script> <\/p>\n<p>This breathtaking revelation was enough to get an entire puff-piece video from Today.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.today.com\/video\/michelle-obama-reveals-pet-peeve-about-barack-on-her-podcast-234303557868\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Seriously<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>But it wasn&rsquo;t just Today. <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/michelle-obama-podcast-imo-8cf34cf3cc9eb6aac17c4341f7b94103\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Associated Press<\/a>, the U.K. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/news\/world\/americas\/michelle-obama-podcast-imo-divorce-b2714220.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Independent<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/blogs\/in-the-know\/5185812-michelle-obama-launches-imo-podcast\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Hill<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2025\/03\/10\/michelle-obama-video-podcast-craig-robinson-imo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Axios<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2025\/03\/10\/business\/media\/michelle-obama-video-podcast.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The New York Times<\/a>, and so on, and so forth, all spilled digital ink effectively giving &ldquo;IMO&rdquo; as much free advertising as the FCC would allow.<\/p>\n<p>And if the early returns are any indication, all that free advertising appears to have been in vain.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;IMO&rdquo; &mdash; at least according to left-leaning YouTube&rsquo;s publicly available metrics &mdash; hasn&rsquo;t exactly garnered a ton of views, and that&rsquo;s being generous.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=5dS4WZfbM0Y\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">debut episode<\/a> of &ldquo;IMO,&rdquo; humbly titled &ldquo;Michelle Obama &amp; Craig Robinson Start a Podcast,&rdquo; garnered a paltry 70,000 views.<\/p>\n<p>Now, to be totally fair, it&rsquo;s hard to gauge the success of&nbsp;<em>anything&nbsp;<\/em>based on a &ldquo;first episode,&rdquo; and to be charitable, this writer knows&nbsp;<em>he&nbsp;<\/em>certainly wouldn&rsquo;t garner anything close to 70,000 views if he ever started a podcast with his brother.<\/p>\n<p>But this writer isn&rsquo;t the better half of a media darling couple.<\/p>\n<p>And this writer also doesn&rsquo;t have famous friends like actress Issa Rae, who headlined the second &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=x3PJgkRLZVM\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">IMO<\/a>&rdquo; episode &mdash; and this is where the numbers get inarguably brutal.<\/p>\n<div class=\"firefly-embed\"> <iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Some Friendships Need to Go with Issa Rae | IMO\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/x3PJgkRLZVM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>That second episode, despite having a much catchier angle than &ldquo;I&rsquo;ve started a podcast with my brother&rdquo; (&ldquo;Some Friendships Need to Go with Issa Rae&rdquo;), has plummeted to just under 26,000 views as of publishing.<\/p>\n<p>Even if 26,000 views were gangbusters (they&rsquo;re not), at the end of the day, it still marks an audience downsize of nearly two-thirds! There&rsquo;s no way to spin that steep drop-off as anything other than &ldquo;brutal.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>And, to perhaps add insult to injury, it&rsquo;s not like the podcasting space is lacking for listeners.<\/p>\n<p>Compare Obama&rsquo;s &ldquo;IMO&rdquo; to far-left California Gov. Gavin Newsom&rsquo;s &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/@ThisisGavinNewsom\/videos\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">This Is Gavin Newsom<\/a>&rdquo; (he really stretched his brain cells on that one).
