O&rsquo;Donnell then added that he was getting &ldquo;a head start&rdquo; by taking Thursday off.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>When Maddow asked if she could join O&rsquo;Donnell on his break, O&rsquo;Donnell said no and pointed out how she promised to cover <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/donald-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Trump<\/a>&lsquo;s first 100 days. However, he said on Trump&rsquo;s 101st day back in office, the two would take time off. He then closed out his intro by wishing Maddow a &ldquo;happy day 52.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/opinion\/beltway-confidential\/3345245\/democrats-need-to-kick-doomcasting-addiction\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">DEMOCRATS NEED TO KICK THEIR DOOMCASTING ADDICTION<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>O&rsquo;Donnell&rsquo;s decision to take a weeklong break came as MSNBC underwent multiple shake-ups, the biggest one arguably being the network <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/entertainment\/3329360\/msnbc-hosts-swarm-support-joy-reid-condemn-network-fired-her\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">firing Joy Reid<\/a> and ending her show <em>The ReidOut<\/em>. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/3327898\/trump-celebrates-joy-reid-msnbc-reidout-show-finally-canceled\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Trump celebrated MSNBC&rsquo;s cancelation of the show on Truth Social<\/a> and suggested it should have been canceled &ldquo;long ago.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Last week, Maddow and fellow MSNBC host Nicole Wallace drew the ire of Trump when <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/entertainment\/3340094\/trump-msnbc-rachel-maddow-nicole-wallace-resign-cancer-survivor-comments\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">they criticized Trump&rsquo;s address to Congress<\/a>, during which he honored 13-year-old pediatric cancer survivor D.J. Daniel.
