From essentially the moment he was sworn in, Trump and his administration have been bombarded with <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/03\/10\/your-guide-to-the-lawsuits-challenging-a-presidents-power-to-fire-executive-officials\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">frivolous lawsuits<\/a> from these anti-democracy activists, culminating in what can only be described as &ldquo;Democrat Lawfare 2.0.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Essential to this strategy has been leftists&rsquo; focus on filing complaints in jurisdictions where they&rsquo;re likely to get a quick and favorable ruling from a left-wing judge. Case in point: District Court Judge Adam Abelson.<\/p>\n<p>On Feb. 21, Abelson, who serves on the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2025\/02\/21\/federal-judge-ruling-blocks-trump-administration-dei-funding-00205585\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">issued<\/a> a <a href=\"https:\/\/storage.courtlistener.com\/recap\/gov.uscourts.mdd.575287\/gov.uscourts.mdd.575287.44.0_2.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">preliminary injunction<\/a> against the Trump administration at the request of several left-wing organizations and the city of Baltimore. The order prohibited enforcement of provisions included in directives signed by Trump. These provisions effectively terminated federal grants and contracts for DEI-related programs and prevented federal contractors\/grantees from operating &ldquo;any programs <em>promoting DEI<\/em> that violate any applicable Federal anti discrimination laws.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>As The Federalist previously&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/12\/07\/negotiated-defense-bill-lets-leftists-keep-using-the-military-to-push-abortion-dei-and-trans-agendas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a>, &ldquo;diversity, equity, and inclusion,&rdquo; or DEI, is a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/bidens-air-force-nominee-believes-its-naive-for-service-members-to-doubt-the-militarys-institutional-racism\/\" title=\"Biden\u2019s Air Force Nominee Believes It\u2019s \u2018Naive\u2019 For Service Members To Doubt The Military\u2019s \u2018Institutional Racism\u2019\">poisonous left-wing framework<\/a> that dismisses merit and instead discriminates based on characteristics such as skin color and sex.<\/p>\n<p>In his ruling, Abelson argued that the plaintiffs showed &ldquo;they are likely to prove&rdquo; the challenged provisions &ldquo;are unconstitutionally vague on their face.&rdquo; He additionally claimed such policies likely violate the First Amendment, contending they represent &ldquo;viewpoint discrimination.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Abelson subsequently <a href=\"https:\/\/ogletree.com\/insights-resources\/blog-posts\/federal-judge-denies-bid-to-stay-preliminary-injunction-blocking-president-trumps-dei-related-executive-orders\/4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">denied<\/a> the Trump administration&rsquo;s request to stay the Feb. 21 injunction on March 3, and on Monday, took his judicial activism a step further by seemingly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jdsupra.com\/legalnews\/court-upholds-scope-of-preliminary-5062533\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">expanding<\/a> the <a href=\"https:\/\/storage.courtlistener.com\/recap\/gov.uscourts.mdd.575287\/gov.uscourts.mdd.575287.66.0.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">scope<\/a> of his initial injunction. As The Federalist&rsquo;s Margot Cleveland <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/ProfMJCleveland\/status\/1899181978681053504\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">noted<\/a>, Abelson &ldquo;&lsquo;clarifie[d]&rsquo; [his] injunction, to provide it applies to all federal agencies &mdash; not merely the ones that were actually sued&rdquo; in plaintiffs&rsquo; initial lawsuit. <\/p>\n<p>While Abelson&rsquo;s actions fall in lockstep with other Democrat-appointed judges greenlighting leftists&rsquo; lawfare against the Trump administration, an inquisition into his background shows there&rsquo;s more to the Biden appointee than meets the eye. From donating to Biden&rsquo;s campaign to working for a law firm stacked with Democrat partisans and attorneys who partook in the DOJ&rsquo;s anti-Trump lawfare, Abelson&rsquo;s history is riddled with cases of left-wing activism that would make judges like <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/tag\/ketanji-brown-jackson\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson<\/a> blush.<\/p>\n<h2>Who Is Adam Abelson?<\/h2>\n<p>It doesn&rsquo;t take much digging to find examples of Abelson displaying his fealty to leftist causes.<\/p>\n<p>Federal Election Commission (FEC) records show that nearly four years prior to his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.senate.gov\/legislative\/LIS\/roll_call_votes\/vote1182\/vote_118_2_00232.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">September 2024 Senate confirmation<\/a>, Abelson <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fec.gov\/data\/receipts\/individual-contributions\/?contributor_name=adam+abelson&amp;contributor_employer=Zuckerman+Spaeder+LLP\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">donated<\/a> $350 to Joe Biden&rsquo;s 2020 presidential campaign and $110 to <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/tag\/actblue\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ActBlue<\/a>. The latter is a Democrat-aligned fundraising platform that is the subject of <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/10\/31\/house-republicans-subpoena-actblue-records-over-alleged-foreign-election-interference-activities\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">congressional<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/10\/24\/lawmakers-to-issue-subpoenas-over-alleged-actblue-foreign-election-interference-scheme\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">state<\/a> investigations over allegations that it <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/08\/22\/democrats-fundraising-machine-draws-accusations-of-potentially-illegal-schemes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">allowed unlawful monies<\/a> to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/pressure-mounts-on-red-state-attorneys-general-to-cut-ties-with-left-wing-law-firm\/\" title=\"Pressure Mounts on Red State Attorneys General To Cut Ties With ...Wing ...\">fund left-wing political<\/a> causes.<\/p>\n<p>But donating to Democrat campaigns is only one facet of Abelson&rsquo;s left-wing antics in the years preceding his confirmation. <\/p>\n<p>As noted in his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mdd.uscourts.gov\/adam-b-abelson-district-judge\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">district court bio<\/a>, prior to attending law school, the Ohio native served as a research fellow for Human Rights Watch and the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences in Santiago, Chile. As <a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/non-profit\/human-rights-watch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">noted<\/a> by the Capital Research Center&rsquo;s InfluenceWatch, the former is &ldquo;a left-of-center nonprofit&rdquo; that&rsquo;s received funding from other &ldquo;left-of-center&rdquo; organizations such as the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/non-profit\/ford-foundation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ford Foundation<\/a>, the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/non-profit\/john-d-and-catherine-t-macarthur-foundation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">MacArthur Foundation<\/a>, the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/non-profit\/bill-and-melinda-gates-foundation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Gates Foundation<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/person\/george-soros\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">George Soros<\/a>&lsquo; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/non-profit\/open-society-foundations\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Open Society Foundations<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Abelson also served as chair of the American Bar Association&rsquo;s Working Group on Building Public Trust in the American Justice System. According to its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.americanbar.org\/groups\/leadership\/office_of_the_president\/publictrust\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">website<\/a>, the project was initially created as a task force in 2016 to &ldquo;determin[e] the role that bar associations might play in restoring the public&rsquo;s trust&rdquo; in the justice system amid the &ldquo;increasing racial tensions, retaliatory violence against police officers, and a growing sense of public distrust in our nation&rsquo;s justice system.&rdquo; <\/p>\n<p>As The Federalist&rsquo;s Joy Pullmann recently <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/03\/10\/the-trump-admin-and-all-republican-states-should-ditch-the-american-bar-association\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a>, the ABA notoriously &ldquo;advocates for and engages in unlawful racial and sexual discrimination and is a highly partisan actor on behalf of the Democrat Party and other anti-Constitution activists.&rdquo; The organization, Pullmann added, &ldquo;affects the U.S. lawyer pipeline and licensing system, accrediting law schools, rating judges, and weaponizing lawyer discipline.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Abelson has additionally served as the vice chair for the Maryland-based Job Opportunities Task Force, which <a href=\"https:\/\/jotf.org\/about-us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">seeks<\/a> to &ldquo;develop and advocate policies and programs to increase the skills, job opportunities, and incomes of low wage workers and job seekers in Maryland.&rdquo; On its website, the organization lists &ldquo;inclusion&rdquo; as one of its core values, which it aims to foster &ldquo;through the application and promotion of a racial equity lens in every facet of life, particularly the workplace.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The group is <a href=\"https:\/\/jotf.org\/about-us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">financially supported<\/a> by grants from several left-wing organizations, such as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/non-profit\/abell-foundation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Abell Foundation<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.osibaltimore.org\/about\/mission-and-vision\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Open Society Institute-Baltimore<\/a>, a branch of Soros&rsquo; aforementioned Open Society Foundations. <\/p>\n<h2>Zuckerman Spaeder: House of Democrat Horrors<\/h2>\n<p>Abelson&rsquo;s partisan history doesn&rsquo;t stop there. The Biden appointee also boasts notable ties to a little-known law firm called Zuckerman Spaeder LLP.<\/p>\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zuckerman.com\/news\/press-release\/zuckerman-spaeder-congratulates-former-partner-and-magistrate-judge-adam-b-abelson-presidential\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">May 2024 Zuckerman Spaeder press release<\/a> reveals that Abelson served as a partner at the firm for 11 years (2012-2023), during which he &ldquo;represented clients in complex civil litigation, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/his-heroism-and-his-restraint-saved-lives-attorney-speaks-out-after-police-lieutenant-who-shot-and-killed-ashli-babbitt-lawyers-up\/\" title=\"\u201cHis Heroism and His Restraint Saved Lives\u201d- Attorney Speaks Out after Police Lieutenant Who Shot and Killed Ashli Babbitt Lawyers Up\">white collar criminal defense<\/a>, and government investigations.&rdquo; This work included serving on the Zuckerman Spaeder team that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zuckerman.com\/news\/press-release\/zuckerman-spaeders-adam-abelson-named-one-baltimore-business-journals-40-under-40\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">represented<\/a> lawyer and former Obama White House counsel Gregory Craig, who was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/archives\/opa\/pr\/washington-based-lawyer-indicted-charge-making-false-statements-department-justice\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">indicted<\/a> by the Justice Department (DOJ) in April 2019 on charges of &ldquo;making false statements and concealing material information about his activities on behalf of Ukraine&rdquo; from federal authorities.<\/p>\n<p>The case &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/greg-craig-pleads-not-guilty\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">stemmed<\/a>&rdquo; from Special Counsel Robert Mueller&rsquo;s investigation into nonexistent collusion between Trump and Russia during the 2016 election, according to Fox News. Craig was ultimately <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/greg-craig-former-obama-white-house-counsel-found-not-guilty-of-false-statements-over-ukraine-work\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">found<\/a> &ldquo;not guilty&rdquo; by a jury in September 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Most alarming about Abelson&rsquo;s ties to Zuckerman Spaeder, however, is that the firm is stacked with Democrat partisans. <\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.opensecrets.org\/orgs\/zuckerman-spaeder-llp\/summary?id=D000031224\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">OpenSecrets<\/a>, nearly all of the 2024 political donations made by Zuckerman Spaeder employees went to Democrat candidates, with none going to Republican ones. Similar trends were also evident in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.opensecrets.org\/orgs\/zuckerman-spaeder-llp\/recipients?toprecipscycle=2024&amp;id=D000031224&amp;candscycle=2022\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2022 cycle<\/a>, in which 98.45 percent of firm employee political donations to federal candidates went to Democrats and only 1.55 percent went to a single Republican.<\/p>\n<p>A more detailed look at Zuckerman Spaeder&rsquo;s roster of lawyers further confirms the firm is anything but &ldquo;nonpartisan.&rdquo; <\/p>\n<p>Zuckerman Spaeder LLP is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zuckerman.com\/people\/caroline-judge-mehta\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">chaired<\/a> by Caroline Judge Mehta, a Harvard Law School grad who also serves as a member of the firm&rsquo;s DEI Committee. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fec.gov\/data\/receipts\/individual-contributions\/?contributor_name=Caroline+Judge+Mehta\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">FEC records<\/a> show that Mehta previously donated to Barack Obama&rsquo;s 2008 presidential campaign and the campaigns of former Sen. Mark Pryor, D-Ark., and Rep. Larry Kissell, D-N.C.<\/p>\n<p>Most recently, Zuckerman Spaeder LLP <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zuckerman.com\/news\/press-release\/zuckerman-spaeder-welcomes-former-top-doj-official-and-former-assistant-us-attorney-partnership\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">announced<\/a> that former DOJ attorneys David M. Rody and Aaron S.J. Zelinsky had joined the firm as partners. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/dave-rody-5b8205119\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Rody<\/a> &mdash; who has a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fec.gov\/data\/receipts\/individual-contributions\/?contributor_name=David+Rody&amp;contributor_employer=Sidley+Austin+LLP\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">history<\/a> of donating to Democrat candidates and causes &mdash; <a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/Politics\/lawyers-working-special-counsel-jack-smith-trump-jan\/story?id=98893019\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">rejoined<\/a> the DOJ in 2022 after a stint in the private sector to work on Special Counsel Jack Smith&rsquo;s <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/09\/05\/how-each-lawfare-jihad-against-trump-might-crumble-under-scotus-immunity-ruling\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">classified documents prosecution<\/a> against Trump. Smith and Rody&rsquo;s lawfare went down in flames last year when Judge Aileen Cannon <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/07\/15\/judge-in-docs-case-throws-out-dojs-lawfare-against-trump-rules-jack-smiths-appointment-unconstitutional\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">tossed<\/a> the charges after ruling that Smith&rsquo;s appointment was unconstitutional.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Zelinsky was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/interactive\/2018\/11\/30\/us\/mueller-investigation-team-prosecutors.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">one of several bad actors<\/a> to partake in Mueller&rsquo;s special counsel investigation into baseless allegations of collusion between Trump and Moscow. In its presser announcing his partnership with the firm, Zuckerman Spaeder <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zuckerman.com\/news\/press-release\/zuckerman-spaeder-welcomes-former-top-doj-official-and-former-assistant-us-attorney-partnership\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">bragged<\/a> that Zelinsky &ldquo;led the Special Counsel Office&rsquo;s investigation and prosecution of Roger Stone and George Papadopoulos.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Speaking of the Russia collusion hoax, it&rsquo;s worth mentioning that Abelson&rsquo;s former employer is also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zuckerman.com\/people\/aitan-d-goelman\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">partnered with<\/a> Aitan D.
