McCuskey ⁤is advocating against a proposed bill in Maryland ‌that imposes fees on out-of-state coal producers, claiming it would inflate costs and might potentially be unconstitutional. In a letter addressed to Maryland’s legislative leaders,McCuskey ⁤argues that the bill unjustly extracts funds from coal suppliers, adversely affecting coal-producing states like West Virginia, which relies heavily on coal for its electricity production. He emphasizes that while Maryland dose not produce ‌much coal, it significantly exports it‍ through the Port of baltimore, which coudl face financial penalties under the new legislation.
