in government spending, including $8 million being allocated to making mice &ldquo;transgender.&rdquo; Trump&rsquo;s point was crystal clear: Taxpayers are spending millions on research trying to prove that it&rsquo;s OK to pump boys full of estrogen and girls full of testosterone.<\/p>\n<p>Instead of acknowledging the absurdity of such waste in funding, CNN immediately <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2025\/03\/04\/politics\/fact-check-trump-address-congress\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">denounced<\/a> the statement as &ldquo;false&rdquo; in their bogus &ldquo;fact-check&rdquo; of Trump&rsquo;s speech, and other members of the propaganda press followed suit.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2 d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-1480406474\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1463670073398-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>But now, CNN&nbsp;has been forced to walk back its own reporting that President Donald Trump&rsquo;s statement was a lie.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;DOGE and transgender mice: Trump falsely claimed that the Department of Government Efficiency identified government spending of &lsquo;$8 million for making mice transgender,&#8217;&rdquo; CNN&rsquo;s Deidre McPhillips originally wrote, according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/libsoftiktok\/status\/1897410116875620788\">post<\/a> shared on X by Libs of TikTok.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\"> <span class=\"yXAZDC8bR\"><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">CNN just quietly edited their &#8220;fact check&#8221; article after they reported that Trump&#8217;s statement on spending $8 million for making mice transgender was &#8220;false.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>It sounds so crazy that they thought Trump made it up&hellip;<\/p>\n<p>It&rsquo;s 100% true and now even CNN is forced to admit it <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/oVETMXbKQG\">pic.twitter.com\/oVETMXbKQG<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Libs of TikTok (@libsoftiktok) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/libsoftiktok\/status\/1897410116875620788?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 5, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/span> <\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>The article has since been updated with an editor&rsquo;s note admitting: &ldquo;An earlier version of this item incorrectly characterized as false Trump&rsquo;s claim about federal money being spent for &lsquo;making mice transgender.&#8217;&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The update claimed to add &ldquo;context&rdquo; to Trump&rsquo;s statement, but the &ldquo;context&rdquo; essentially admits that Trump was right.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The morning after Trump&rsquo;s speech, the White House provided a list of $8.3 million in federal grants to health studies that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/cnn-humiliated-forced-to-issue-a-correction-on-its-own-fact-check-of-trump\/\" title=\"... Humiliated, Forced to Issue a Correction on Its Own ... of Trump\">involve mice receiving treatments<\/a> that can be used in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/report-the-biden-administration-has-plans-to-quash-anti-trans-legislation-in-various-states\/\" title=\"Report: The Biden Administration Has Plans To Quash \u2018Anti-Trans\u2019 Legislation In Various States\">gender-affirming health care<\/a>,&rdquo; the updated version reads. &ldquo;The White House list made clear what Trump, in the speech, did not: The studies were meant to figure out how these treatments might affect the health of humans who take them, not for the purpose of making mice transgender.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday, the White House released a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/articles\/2025\/03\/yes-biden-spent-millions-on-transgender-animal-experiments\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">statement<\/a> entitled &ldquo;Yes, Biden Spent Millions on Transgender Animal Experiments.&rdquo; The statement highlights a $455,000 grant for &ldquo;A Mouse Model to Test the Effects of Gender-affirming Hormone Therapy on HIV Vaccine-induced Immune Responses,&rdquo; along with a $299,940 grant for &ldquo;Gender-Affirming Testosterone Therapy on Breast Cancer Risk and Treatment Outcomes.&rdquo; <\/p>\n<p>Still, other legacy media outlet reporters like the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/politics\/politics-news\/trump-transgender-mice-medical-research-1235289439\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Rolling Stone&rsquo;s Miles Klee<\/a> peddled the claim that the government wasn&rsquo;t really funding research to make mice transgender &mdash; they were just funding research to analyze cancer risks for &ldquo;female-to-male trans individuals.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/nbc-out\/out-politics-and-policy\/fact-checking-trumps-anti-transgender-comments-address-congress-rcna194969\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">NBC News&rsquo; Jo Yurcaba<\/a> said &ldquo;it&rsquo;s unclear exactly what Trump was referring to&rdquo; when he referenced the federal funding used to make mice transgender &mdash; before linking the same White House statement detailing the &ldquo;millions&rdquo; Biden spent on &ldquo;transgender animal experiments.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>If CNN &mdash; which was found by a jury earlier this year to be a <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/01\/17\/cnn-found-liable-for-defaming-u-s-navy-veteran-who-repeatedly-informed-network-it-had-facts-wrong\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">literal fake news outlet<\/a> &mdash; and the rest of the corporate media are so intent on &ldquo;fact-checking,&rdquo; maybe they should start with their own erroneous &ldquo;reporting.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\">\n<div class=\"article-author-description fst-italic\">      Brianna Lyman is an elections correspondent at The Federalist.
