Smith corrected Joy Behar on her own show as she desperately tried to downplay the electoral victory of President Donald Trump while denying the political realities facing the Democrats.<\/p>\n<p>Smith joined ABC&rsquo;s &ldquo;The View&rdquo; Tuesday as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/watch-joy-behar-forced-humiliate-air-admit-lied-elon-musk-beg-not-sued\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Behar<\/a> tried to spin the narrative that Trump&rsquo;s comeback was not actually all that impressive.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;He&rsquo;s been going around with his cronies, touting his so-called landslide and blowout win, but he won the popular vote by 1.5 percent, one of the smallest ever, and he won the general election by less than 50 percent,&rdquo; Behar said. &ldquo;So what kind of mandate is this really?&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>But Smith, who made it clear that he is no fan of the commander-in-chief, warned Behar that dismissing Trump&rsquo;s political ascendance is a fool&rsquo;s errand for his fellow Democrats.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/espns-stephen-smith-attempts-make-nfl-coachs-firing-race\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Smith<\/a> insisted that &ldquo;It IS a mandate.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p> <script type=\"text\/javascript\"> \t\t\tif ( getCookie( \"ff_subbed\" ) ) { \t\t\t\tdocument.getElementById(\"stnvideo\").remove() \t\t\t} \t\t<\/script> <\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Let me be very clear, I&rsquo;m no supporter of Trump, I&rsquo;m a supporter of truth and the facts,&rdquo; Smith said. &ldquo;Here&rsquo;s the facts: The man won every swing state, he increased the voter turnout in his favor from the standpoint of blacks, Latinos, and young voters.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Beyond improving his  of those key demographics from 2020, Smith added that &ldquo;89 percent of the counties shifted to the right.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">.<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/stephenasmith?\">@stephenasmith<\/a> on why he considers Pres. We can sit up here and play around if we want to,&rdquo; he emphasized.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;In 2020 Trump didn&rsquo;t win the popular vote,&rdquo; Smith continued. &ldquo;The Republicans hadn&rsquo;t won the popular vote, if I remember correctly, since 2004. But they did this year, so 20 years after they last won the popular vote, they won the popular vote, they won the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/warp-speed-advisor-expects-vaccine-to-ship-mid-december-herd-immunity-by-may\/\" title=\"\u2018Warp Speed\u2019 advisor expects vaccine to ship mid-December, \u2018herd immunity\u2019 by May\">electoral college vote<\/a>, the man won every swing state, and on top of that, 89 percent of the counties shifted right.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Smith broke with many of his fellow Democrats as he acknowledged these truths.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I don&rsquo;t understand how people can look at that and say, &lsquo;There&rsquo;s no mandate.&rsquo; There&rsquo;s a mandate!&rdquo; he added.<\/p>\n<p>Smith also rebuked the Democrats who say, &ldquo;What we did really wasn&rsquo;t that bad; we should continue to do that,&rdquo; while doubling down on their tactics in the face of the electoral loss.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;No! Don&rsquo;t continue to do that. Find a new strategy,&rdquo; he warned.<\/p>\n<p>Smith even said that the election was not merely about Trump, but to a large degree dealt with American revulsion toward the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/democrats-hemorrhaging-voter-roll-cleanup-losing-3-voters-every-1-gop-voter-total-number-lost-brutal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Democrats<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;In the end, what it comes down to is this: The American people, in their eyes, it wasn&rsquo;t about him. They were voting against what the Democrats were throwing in their direction,&rdquo; the sports commentator remarked.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I want somebody to step up and recognize that man in the Oval Office, whether you like it or not, is potent,&rdquo; Smith said. &ldquo;He&rsquo;s coming, and he wins. You&rsquo;ve got to find a way to beat him.
