They \u2064have reported facing retaliation, \u2062including being bypassed for promotions, as coming \u200cforward with their claims. James Comer (R-KY) and Jim Jordan (R-OH) for the invitation and for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/no-god-wasnt-making-a-political-statement-by-sparing-trump\/\" title=\"No, God Wasn&#039;t Making A Political Statement By Sparing Trump\">lawmakers&#038;rsquo<\/a>; &ldquo;steadfast support and recognition&rdquo; of their sacrifices.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We look forward to continuing to work with them and the Administration toward justice for whistleblowers like us and accountability for the retaliators, both of which are long overdue,&rdquo; Shapley and Ziegler said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>The pair, who investigate tax crimes for the IRS, approached Congress in 2023 with allegations that the IRS and the Department of Justice Tax Division were slow-walking a yearslong investigation into Hunter Biden to protect Joe Biden.<\/p>\n<p>Comer, Jordan, and other lawmakers interviewed Shapley and Ziegler and were able to glean a wealth information from them about the federal inquiry into the first son. The IRS officials were a boon to the impeachment inquiry, showcasing Joe Biden&rsquo;s son&rsquo;s tax crimes long before the younger Biden was ever indicted. Hunter Biden eventually pleaded guilty to nine <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/red-handed-3-former-u-s-ambassadors-to-china-or-their-children-are-cashing-in-with-chinese-state-backed-companies\/\" title=\"\u2018Red-Handed\u2019: 3 Former U.S. Ambassadors to China or Their Children Are Cashing in with Chinese State-Backed Companies\">tax charges<\/a> but received a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/white-house-gives-bidens-stance-on-pardoning-son-if-hes-convicted-of-crimes\/\" title=\"White House clarifies Biden&#039;s stance on pardoning son if convicted.\">controversial pardon<\/a> from his father before his sentencing.<\/p>\n<p>Shapley&rsquo;s and Ziegler&rsquo;s lawyers have said the pair have faced significant retaliation internally at the IRS, including by being passed up for promotions.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Their work life has completely changed. &hellip; They have to watch their back every day,&rdquo; Jason Foster, one of the lawyers who has worked with them, told the <em>Washington Examiner.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/investigations\/3246691\/irs-whistleblowers-respond-to-hunter-biden-pardon\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">IRS WHISTLEBLOWERS RESPOND TO HUNTER BIDEN PARDON<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Foster works at Empower Oversight, a legal group that advocates whistleblowers.
