John Fetterman<\/a> (D-PA) declared himself an ally to trans athletes on Monday after a vote in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/senate\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Senate<\/a> on proposed legislation that would prevent men from competing in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/womens-sports\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">women&rsquo;s sports<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"article-paywall\">\n<p>The Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act failed to obtain more than the 60 votes necessary to avoid a Senate filibuster.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;To provide that for purposes&nbsp;of&nbsp;determining compliance with title IX&nbsp;of&nbsp;the Education Amendments&nbsp;of&nbsp;1972&nbsp;in&nbsp;athletics, sex shall be recognized based solely on a person&rsquo;s reproductive biology&nbsp;and&nbsp;genetics at birth,&rdquo; read the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/119th-congress\/senate-bill\/9\/text?s=1&amp;r=6&amp;q=%7B%22search%22%3A%22Protection+of+Women+and+Girls+in+Sports+Act%22%7D\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">legislation<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It was defeated in a party-line vote, with 51 Republicans voting to support it and 46 Democrats voting against it.&nbsp;Fetterman voted against the bill and criticized the measure in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/why-this-average-american-is-voting-for-donald-trump\/\" title=\"Why This Average American Is Voting for Donald Trump\">social media post<\/a> on Monday evening. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL). He introduced Monday&rsquo;s legislation with 39 other co-sponsors. Before the vote, he commented on the bill&rsquo;s history and the challenges of getting it passed because of the lack of Democratic support.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;This is the third time that I&rsquo;ve had a vote on this bill,&rdquo; Tuberville said. &ldquo;The other two times have failed because we have had almost zero Democrats help to support women and girls in sports.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/3258428\/fetterman-condemns-attack-against-nancy-mace\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">FETTERMAN CONDEMNS ATTACK AGAINST NANCY MACE<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Fetterman&rsquo;s comments and vote on the bill reinforce his commitment to issues and values that align with his left-wing politics. Previously, it was suggested that Fetterman might be straying away from his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/tucker-carlson-gives-fiery-rnc-speech-without-teleprompter-washington-examiner\/\" title=\"Tucker Carlson gives fiery RNC speech without teleprompter - Washington Examiner\">political party&#038;rsquo<\/a>;s beliefs given his comments regarding Hamas, co-sponsoring and voting for the Laken Riley Act, and <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/opinion\/3284451\/trump-calls-fetterman-impressive-mar-a-lago-meeting\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">meeting President Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago<\/a>.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Despite the setback in the Senate, there is hope that the spirit of the bill and the declarations made in the legislation would still be implemented nationwide.
