This new strategy came after widespread backlash to the last email, which Department of Government Efficiency leader Elon Musk <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/remarks\/2025\/02\/remarks-by-president-trump-before-cabinet-meeting\/#:~:text=results%20from%20that%3F-,MR.,Do%20you%20have%20a%20pulse%3F%E2%80%9D\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">argued<\/a> Wednesday was &ldquo;misinterpreted as a performance review&rdquo; when it was designed to be a &ldquo;pulse-check review.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The person briefed on the matter said the eventual plan is to develop a Microsoft form to receive the five-bullet responses from employees.<\/p>\n<p>The new emails are also intended to allow supervisors to get a better understanding of underlings&rsquo; work and help align different agencies. While not pitched as a performance review, the new emails were portrayed as an accountability measure to push <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/white-house-releases-list-of-president-trumps-accomplishments-and-it-is-historic\/\" title=\"White House Releases List of President Trump\u2019s Accomplishments \u2013  And It Is Historic!\">federal workers<\/a> to work harder.<\/p>\n<p>The first performance review emails sent to all federal workers Saturday sparked a heated internal debate between administrative officials.
