Vance was asked to comment further on his remarks made about Great Britain and free speech.<\/p>\n<p>For context, Vance spoke at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/delegates-not-appear-happy-jd-vance-skewers-room-full-european-leaders-soil\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Munich<\/a> Security Conference in Germany on Feb. 14. In just under 20 minutes, Vance spoke about free speech &mdash; or the lack thereof &mdash; in Europe, telling the audience, &ldquo;In Britain, and across Europe, free speech, I fear, is in retreat.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Footage of the speech has been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=ZYHjv7QnLLw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">uploaded to YouTube<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/foreignpolicy.com\/2025\/02\/18\/vance-speech-munich-full-text-read-transcript-europe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a transcript<\/a> of the speech can be found here.<\/p>\n<p>Fast forward to Trump&rsquo;s meeting with Starmer Thursday, which Vance joined. Could you respond? What is your message?&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/trump-nominee-advances-rescued-3-yes-votes-democrats\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Trump<\/a> turned the floor over to Vance to respond.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I said what I said, which is that we do have, of course, a special relationship with our friends in the U.K., and also with some of our European allies.
