Dan Crenshaw would find himself among this class of individual. A former Navy SEAL, who lost an eye to an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/crenshaw-issues-list-conservative-guide-to-the-culture-wars\/\" title=\"... Issues List: \u2018... Guide To The Culture Wars\u2019\">improvised explosive device<\/a> during his time in Afghanistan, Crenshaw had admirable bona fides as a vet, as a scholar (Tufts and Harvard), and &mdash; at least initially &mdash; as a conservative.<\/p>\n<p>As his time in Congress wore on, Crenshaw began rankling a lot of conservatives. His first <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/tucker-carlson-deploys-absolutely-brutal-nickname-dan-crenshaw-go-far\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">major beef was with Tucker Carlson<\/a> &mdash; and by extension Fox News &mdash; who he disagreed with over funding for Ukraine in their war against Russia. This wasn&rsquo;t unusual &mdash; in fact, Tucker was very much the outlier at that point in the conflict &mdash; but it was a preview of things to come.<\/p>\n<p>He made enemies of the House Freedom Caucus but came to the defense of ultra-RINO and Jan. 6 kangaroo committee member <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/watch-dan-crenshaw-caught-defending-rino-adam-kinzinger-savaging-gop-freedom-caucus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Adam Kinzinger<\/a>, a former Illinois representative who&rsquo;s now a professional NeverTrumper.<\/p>\n<p>He ran for the House Homeland Security Committee chair against Freedom Caucus member Rep. Mark Green in 2023, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/freedom-caucus-rep-defeats-crenshaw-homeland-security-chair-big-plan-biden-will-hate\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">bid that he lost<\/a>. His rivalry with Tucker has continued &mdash; and he&rsquo;s begun to spar with an ever-increasing number of conservatives, a disconcerting sign that Kinzinger may have left the lower chamber, but he left an unexpected replacement for himself behind. (During the 2023 House speaker fight, Crenshaw went far enough to call conservatives who weren&rsquo;t keen on former Speaker Kevin McCarthy &ldquo;traitors,&rdquo; strong language indeed &mdash; especially when you consider the disappointment that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/former-speaker-mccarthy-allegedly-elbowed-rival-kidneys-tells-opponent-straighten-life\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">McCarthy quite predictably ended up being<\/a> in the position.)<\/p>\n<p> <script type=\"text\/javascript\"> \t\t\tif ( getCookie( \"ff_subbed\" ) ) { \t\t\t\tdocument.getElementById(\"stnvideo\").remove() \t\t\t} \t\t<\/script> <\/p>\n<p>And then came <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/tucker-carlson-responds-dan-crenshaw-caught-hot-mic-threatening-kill\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/social-media-cringes-at-hot-mic-video-of-harris-and-whitmer-washington-examiner\/\" title=\"Social media cringes at ... ... of Harris and Whitmer - Washington Examiner\">hot mic video<\/a> of Crenshaw<\/a>, during an interview with conservative U.K. outlet GB News, saying that if he ever met up with Tucker Carlson, he&rsquo;d kill him.<\/p>\n<p>To which Tucker Carlson responded: Fine, how about an interview instead, though? I&rsquo;ll give you my address.<\/p>\n<p>Crenshaw&rsquo;s response regarding whether he&rsquo;d threatened to kill Carlson: &ldquo;lol, no.&rdquo; And as for that interview? No word as of yet. Apparently, that grape ain&rsquo;t gonna be busted in any fruit fight.<\/p>\n<p>So, first, the hot mic video, which has been taken off of X several times after it was originally posted. Dan Crenshaw: A man who fought for our basic freedoms, like the freedom to have your life threatened by former Navy SEAL Dan Crenshaw if you have an opinion that isn&rsquo;t his.<\/p>\n<p>Now, again, I doubt this is serious (see again the quote from Mr. Z indicating just how earnestly I would take this rhetoric, were I Tucker or anyone else), but it&rsquo;s also not something an elected representative should be saying, hot mic or not.<\/p>\n<p>The media still hasn&rsquo;t gotten over the whole Trump &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/watch-kjp-calls-peter-doocy-disingenuous-turns-tables-trumps-bloodbath-comments\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">bloodbath<\/a>&rdquo; hoax, so you would think that a Republican saying, in regards to Tucker Carlson, &ldquo;if I ever meet him, I&rsquo;ll f***ing kill him&rdquo; would set off a ton of klaxons. But again, Crenshaw is (alas) turning into the right kind of Republican for their tastes.<\/p>\n<p>As the controversy brewed, Elon Musk inserted himself into it and asked, &ldquo;Why is Crenshaw homicidal regarding Tucker?&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Tucker responded, noting he was more than willing to find out.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Why don&rsquo;t you come sit for an interview and we&rsquo;ll see how you do? I mean that.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Here&rsquo;s Tucker on Dan Crenshaw in an interview he did with me a few weeks ago:<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;He&rsquo;s out of control. And I think that he&rsquo;s a really volatile person. I hope he gets help. But a conservative Episcopalian who wears blazers and like to fish? Not so much, and certainly not over opinions. Carlson says a lot of stuff that people disagree with &mdash; including plenty of conservatives. That&rsquo;s no excuse for this.<\/p>\n<p>Crenshaw has been one of his targets, yes. That being said, this guy is also a former <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/report-army-100-navy-seals-target-dc-huge-move-ensure-hegseth-confirmed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Navy SEAL<\/a> who&rsquo;s seen combat and lost an eye to an IED, and he comes home and gets elected to Congress, all to &hellip; threaten Tucker with death? Dan Crenshaw was first elected to Congress in 2018, few would have predicted he would fit this description. A former Navy SEAL who lost an eye to an IED in Afghanistan, Crenshaw had impressive credentials as a veteran and scholar (with degrees from Tufts and Harvard) and initially appeared to be a solid conservative. However, over time he began to alienate many conservatives. His first major conflict arose with Tucker Carlson and Fox News regarding funding for Ukraine amidst its war with Russia\u2014a stance that was not widely held at the time but hinted at future tensions.<\/p>\n<p>Crenshaw clashed with the House Freedom Caucus while defending Adam Kinzinger, an outspoken critic of Trump. In 2023, he unsuccessfully ran for chair of the House Homeland Security Committee against Freedom Caucus member Rep. Mark Green. His ongoing rivalry with Tucker escalated when hot mic footage surfaced during an interview where Crenshaw stated that if he ever met Carlson, he&#8217;d kill him\u2014prompting Carlson&#8217;s response suggesting they should have an interview instead.<\/p>\n<p>Crenshaw later dismissed his comment about killing Carlson as just joking around; however, such remarks are inappropriate for someone in his position regardless of context. Despite this serious rhetoric not triggering significant media outrage\u2014perhaps due to Crenshaw&#8217;s alignment with certain Republican ideals\u2014Elon Musk questioned why Crenshaw seemed so aggressive towards Tucker.<\/p>\n<p>In response to inquiries about his threat against Carlson caught on video, Crenshaw simply laughed it off online.
