Utilizing the Congressional Review Act, they\u200c aim to overturn rules enacted within the last 60 legislative days, wich allows them to act with a \u2064simple majority. Specific regulations to be targeted have not yet been finalized, but several senators have indicated priorities. As a notable example, Senator John Kennedy seeks to dismantle restrictions on bank mergers and other rules limiting oil\u200b production. Senator Ted cruz aims to eliminate a Federal\u2062 Communications Commission \u200dorder related to Wi-Fi subsidies for students and intends to reverse standards for <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\">gas-powered water heaters<\/a>. Tom Carper announces bill to give D.C. statehood\">rolling back<\/a> Biden regulations<\/h1>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"tdb-title-line\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"tdb-block-inner td-fix-index\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"tdb-block-inner td-fix-index\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"tdb-block-inner td-fix-index\">\n<div id=\"Brid_2016261\" class=\"tpd-featured-video bridtv\"><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/republican\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Republicans\">Republicans<\/a> in both the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/section\/news\/house\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"House\">House<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/senate\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Senate\">Senate<\/a> are expected to begin teeing up votes on legislation that would undo a number of Biden administration-era rules as early as next week.<\/p>\n<div class=\"article-paywall\">\n<p>The plan <a href=\"https:\/\/www.semafor.com\/article\/02\/21\/2025\/republicans-eye-rollback-of-biden-rules-on-bank-mergers-wifi-hotspots-and-more\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">reported<\/a> by <em>Semafor<\/em> comes as Republicans gear up to roll back legislation issued within the last 60 legislative days with a simple majority under the terms of the <a href=\"https:\/\/crsreports.congress.gov\/product\/pdf\/IF\/IF10023\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Congressional Review Act<\/a>. The timeline limits Republicans&rsquo; window to overturn the Biden-era regulations, but they are looking into a number of rules enacted recently.<\/p>\n<p>The specific regulations that each chamber plans to vote on have yet to be finalized. However, a number of senators have revealed their priorities. Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA) is interested in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kennedy.senate.gov\/public\/2025\/2\/kennedy-introduces-resolution-to-undo-biden-admin-bureaucracy-that-leads-to-consumer-uncertainty\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">rolling back a rule<\/a> from the Treasury that put new restrictions on bank mergers. The Louisiana senator also wants to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kennedy.senate.gov\/public\/press-releases?ID=99057F09-4DD2-489D-8833-E1D83DB7FA60\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">axe<\/a> a ruling from the Interior Department that seeks to limit oil and gas production on the Outer Continental Shelf.<\/p>\n<p>Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX)<a href=\"https:\/\/www.commerce.senate.gov\/2025\/1\/chairman-cruz-leads-senate-commerce-gop-in-effort-to-stop-biden-fcc-from-subsidizing-kids-unsupervised-internet-access\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\"> wants to get rid <\/a>of a Federal Communications Commission order that allows subsidies for Wi-Fi hot spots for students while they are off campus. Cruz also teamed up with Rep. Gary Palmer (R-AL) to <a href=\"https:\/\/palmer.house.gov\/media-center\/in-the-news\/house-gop-resolution-would-overturn-bidens-gas-water-heater-ban\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">introduce a resolution<\/a> in late January to reverse a Biden-era policy that set new standards for gas-powered water heaters.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Another<a href=\"https:\/\/pfluger.house.gov\/news\/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=2259\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\"> effort<\/a> led by Sen. John Hoeven (R-ND) and Rep.
