return false;\" title=\"Printer Friendly, PDF &amp; Email\"><span id=\"printfriendly-text2\" class=\"pf-button-text\"><i class=\"mdi mdi-printer\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/i><\/span><\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div>\n<p>Georgia and Utah could become the next Republican-led states to leave the <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\">leftist-linked voter roll maintenance group<\/a> known as ERIC if bills mandating their respective withdrawals are passed into law. <\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, Republicans on a Georgia House elections subcommittee <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.md\/jO0WL\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">passed<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.legis.ga.gov\/legislation\/69748\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">legislation<\/a> in a party-line vote that seeks to prohibit the Georgia secretary of state and state entities from &ldquo;joining or participating in any multistate voter list maintenance organization&rdquo; that fits specific criteria outlined in the bill. Under HB 215, Georgia would be required to pull out of a nongovernmental voter list maintenance group that mandates &ldquo;or encourages the contacting of individuals who are not currently registered to vote with the intent to register them to vote&rdquo; or &ldquo;[s]hares&nbsp;voter data outside of the explicit purpose of removing deceased, duplicate, or otherwise ineligible voters from the list of electors.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2 d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-1935199292\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1463670073398-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Existing contracts that meet one or both of these provisions would have to be terminated within 90 days of the law&rsquo;s enactment.<\/p>\n<p>HB 215 will now be considered by the House Governmental Affairs Committee, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.md\/jO0WL#selection-2025.47-2025.77\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Atlanta Journal-Constitution<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>If ultimately signed into law, the proposal would effectively end the Peach State&rsquo;s agreement with the <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/tag\/electronic-registration-information-center\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Electronic Registration Information Center<\/a> (ERIC). <\/p>\n<p>As The Federalist previously&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/08\/11\/democratic-operatives-control-voter-rolls-in-31-states-report-shows\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a>, ERIC was founded by Democrat activist&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/person\/david-becker\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">David Becker<\/a>&nbsp;and &ldquo;sold to states as a quick and easy way to update their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/in-nevada-a-corrupt-cash-for-votes-scheme-is-hiding-in-plain-sight\/\" title=\"In Nevada, A Corrupt Cash-For-...s Scheme Is Hiding In Plain Sight\">voter rolls<\/a>.&rdquo; In actuality, the group&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/08\/11\/democratic-operatives-control-voter-rolls-in-31-states-report-shows\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">inflates voter rolls<\/a>&nbsp;by requiring member states to contact eligible but unregistered residents to register to vote.<\/p>\n<p>ERIC also&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/05\/03\/10-lies-democrats-tell-about-our-elections-and-how-to-refute-them\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reportedly<\/a>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/exclusive-ohio-launches-portal-increasing-voter-roll-oversight\/\" title=\"Exclusive: Ohio Launches Portal Increasing ...r Roll Oversight\">shares voter roll information<\/a> with the Center for Election Innovation and Research (<a href=\"https:\/\/electioninnovation.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CEIR<\/a>), another Becker-founded group known for its &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/10\/12\/the-2020-election-wasnt-stolen-it-was-bought-by-mark-zuckerberg\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Zuckbucks<\/a>&rdquo; interference in the 2020 election. The data shared between the two left-wing groups is effectively used to develop lists of potential (and likely Democrat) voters for states to register leading up to elections.<\/p>\n<p><strong>[RELATED:[RELATED:<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/12\/18\/media-lie-about-this-leftist-linked-voter-roll-maintenance-group-to-protect-democrats-election-machine\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Media Lie About This Leftist-Linked Voter Roll &lsquo;Maintenance&rsquo; Group To Protect Democrats&rsquo; Election Machine<\/a>]<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Multiple GOP-led states have <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/12\/18\/media-lie-about-this-leftist-linked-voter-roll-maintenance-group-to-protect-democrats-election-machine\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">withdrawn<\/a> from ERIC in recent years over its refusal to change its bylaws and concerns about the group&rsquo;s left-wing connections. <\/p>\n<p>Despite these exits, Georgia Secretary of State <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/tag\/brad-raffensperger\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Brad Raffensperger<\/a> has defended maintaining his state&rsquo;s relationship with ERIC. In 2023, the Republican elections chief <a href=\"https:\/\/atlantaciviccircle.org\/2023\/03\/15\/as-trump-and-red-states-attack-voter-data-group-raffensperger-snaps-back\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">claimed<\/a>, &ldquo;Systems like ERIC &hellip; help prevent people from being registered in and trying to vote in multiple states.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/02\/23\/raffensperger-claims-georgias-voter-rolls-are-cleanest-in-the-country-heres-why-thats-bunk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Investigative analysis<\/a> by Mark Davis, a voter data specialist and president of Data Productions, Inc., however, calls into question the accuracy of the Peach State&rsquo;s voter rolls. <\/p>\n<p>But Georgia isn&rsquo;t the only Republican-led state that could potentially leave ERIC.<\/p>\n<p>In Utah, the GOP-controlled House <a href=\"https:\/\/utahnewsdispatch.com\/2025\/02\/18\/utah-closer-to-leaving-voter-roll-group-eric\/\">pa<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/utahnewsdispatch.com\/2025\/02\/18\/utah-closer-to-leaving-voter-roll-group-eric\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ssed<\/a> an elections bill (<a href=\"https:\/\/le.utah.gov\/~2025\/bills\/static\/HB0332.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">HB 332<\/a>) on Friday that includes a provision requiring the lieutenant governor to withdraw the state from ERIC. Unlike <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncsl.org\/elections-and-campaigns\/election-administration-at-state-and-local-levels\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">most states<\/a>, where elections are overseen by a secretary of state or elections board, the Utah lieutenant governor is the official tasked with overseeing the Beehive State&rsquo;s electoral process.<\/p>\n<p>Much like Georgia, Utah&rsquo;s elections chief, Lt. Gov. Deidre Henderson, has also defended her state&rsquo;s agreement with ERIC. The Utah Republican even went out of her way to <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/DeidreHenderson\/status\/1779172440926765119\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">accuse<\/a> Americans concerned about the organization&rsquo;s partisan ties of being so-called &ldquo;election deniers.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;ERIC has become a favorite boogeyman of the radical election deniers,&rdquo; Henderson wrote in an April 2024 X thread. &ldquo;But their claims are not based in fact, and their demands are counterproductive to their rhetoric.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>HB 332 will now head to the Utah Senate for consideration. <\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\">\n<div class=\"article-author-description fst-italic\">      Shawn Fleetwood is a staff writer for The Federalist and a graduate of the University of Mary Washington.
