An official administration <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/fact-sheets\/2025\/02\/fact-sheet-president-donald-j-trump-expands-access-to-in-vitro-fertilization-ivf\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">fact sheet claimed<\/a> the directive &ldquo;recognizes the importance of family formation&rdquo; and &ldquo;make[s] it easier for loving and longing mothers and fathers to have children.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<figure>\n<p><span><\/p>\n<blockquote data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<div lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\n<p>&#127482;&#127480;MAKE FAMILIES GREAT AGAIN: President Trump has taken bold action to expand access to IVF! <\/p>\n<p>His Executive Order directs policy recommendations to safeguard IVF treatments and lower costs&mdash;making fertility care more affordable for American families! <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/65ofNMcGfT\">pic.twitter.com\/65ofNMcGfT<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>&mdash; The White House (@WhiteHouse) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WhiteHouse\/status\/1891962340796448980?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 18, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><\/span> <\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>The administration intends to execute its family-friendly agenda by doing everything possible to &ldquo;protect IVF access&rdquo; and &ldquo;aggressively reduce out-of-pocket and health plan costs for such treatments.&rdquo; There&rsquo;s nothing pro-family, however, about endorsing a practice that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.catholicnewsagency.com\/news\/257066\/more-human-embryos-destroyed-through-ivf-than-abortion-every-year\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">kills more unborn babies than abortion every year.<\/a> <\/p>\n<h2>Fertility Fallacy<\/h2>\n<p>Trump&rsquo;s pledge to &ldquo;expand IVF&rdquo; is already ironic considering there are no laws abridging the increasingly popular fertility fix in the United States. Even states like Louisiana, whose law purporting to prohibit the intentional destruction of embryos is often used as an example by lawmakers of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/02\/29\/republican-cindy-hyde-smith-blocks-democrats-radical-ivf-bill-but-whiffs-on-the-why\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">&ldquo;common-sense&rdquo; restrictions<\/a> on ART, have plenty of loopholes that still accommodate for the unlimited creation and destruction of human life.<\/p>\n<p>While it&rsquo;s true that tens of thousands of precious babies are born via the procedure each and every year, approximately&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.heritage.org\/life\/report\/why-the-ivf-industry-must-be-regulated\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">93<\/a>&nbsp;to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/gop-attempts-define-position-discarding-ivf-embryos-pro-life-stances\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">97<\/a>&nbsp;percent of the little lives created in labs via IVF won&rsquo;t ever make it to the womb and certainly not birth.<\/p>\n<p>Trump&rsquo;s order might bring the administration one step closer to fulfilling his campaign promise for <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/08\/30\/trump-announced-taxpayer-funded-ivf-plan-because-pro-lifers-failed-to-step-up\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">taxpayer-funded IVF<\/a>, but it does not actually solve the nation&rsquo;s fertility woes.<\/p>\n<p>For one, IVF is far from&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.factsaboutfertility.org\/modeling-the-cumulative-effectiveness-of-fertility-treatments-a-review\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">a foolproof way<\/a>&nbsp;to ensure parenthood. Cycling emotionally vulnerable adults who desperately want a child through multiple rounds of IVF, however, is incredibly profitable for the rapidly growing fertility industry.  <\/p>\n<p>There&rsquo;s no doubt that an infertility diagnosis, as the White House notes, turns &ldquo;what should be a joyful experience into an emotional and financial struggle.&rdquo; Lowering the cost of egg retrievals, reproduction drugs, and lab conception in light of that fact may seem noble at first glance.<\/p>\n<p>Yet the only thing the IVF sold to the masses can guarantee is that more innocent embryos will be subject to morally objectionable practices like <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/06\/08\/popular-genetic-testing-pits-unborn-siblings-against-each-other-and-the-highest-scorer-gets-to-live\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">genetic testing<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thembeforeus.com\/the-sacrificing-of-excess-children-to-fulfill-adult-desires\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">premature disposal<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/02\/02\/theres-only-one-way-for-the-1-million-embryos-stuck-in-frozen-orphanages-to-make-it-out-alive-adoption\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">indefinite cryopreservation<\/a>, and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/03\/26\/big-fertility-harms-babies-and-women-so-why-are-we-celebrating-it\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">surrogacy<\/a> than the millions that already were.<\/p>\n<p>If Trump is truly invested in promoting &ldquo;family formation&rdquo; and even pushing more people to reproduce beyond the replacement rate, further opening the door for children for whoever by whatever means necessary won&rsquo;t do the trick. <\/p>\n<p>The nuclear family is indispensable, and the consequences of shunning it by allowing anyone, regardless of relationship status or natural ability to reproduce, to commission the creation of children via IVF are irrevocable.<\/p>\n<p>Kids who grow up without their married, biological mother and father have clear&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/futureofchildren.princeton.edu\/sites\/futureofchildren\/files\/foc_vol_30_no_1_combined_v6.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">physical, emotional, and educational disadvantages<\/a>&nbsp;that do not systematically affect their peers in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/babies-by-any-means-necessary-wont-fix-the-wests-fertility-woes\/\" title=\"Using Any Means to Boost Western Fertility Won&#039;t Solve Baby Shortage\">stable nuclear family situations<\/a>. More specifically, boys raised in fatherless homes like the<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/08\/12\/heres-what-mindy-kaling-gets-wrong-in-her-plea-for-college-girls-to-freeze-their-eggs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> ones IVF enables<\/a> are&nbsp;less likely&nbsp;to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/ifstudies.org\/blog\/life-without-father-less-college-less-work-and-more-prison-for-young-men-growing-up-without-their-biological-father\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">graduate and more prone to criminal acts and violence<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Even if the only people employing the use of IVF were couples in traditional marriages, the moral and ethical crises posed by the industry&rsquo;s standard practice of serially creating and destroying embryos are not synonymous with a healthy, thriving, and fruitful society. The results are the expansion of an industry that prioritizes <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/08\/14\/its-time-to-stop-treating-assisted-reproductive-technology-as-a-quick-fix-for-infertility\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">profit over people<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/06\/22\/abortion-puts-selfish-wants-above-babies-rights-too-often-ivf-does-the-same\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">adults&rsquo; selfish desires<\/a>&nbsp;over children&rsquo;s natural rights,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/03\/25\/what-if-we-can-heal-infertile-women-rather-than-turning-to-expensive-unethical-ivf-treatments-first\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">quick fixes<\/a>&nbsp;over <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trump-announced-ivf-plan-because-pro-lifers-didnt-step-up\/\" title=\"Trump Announced ...
